Celebrity Invites - How to do it?

Kelly, on April 12, 2016 at 8:50 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 20

So, I have a short list of celebrities that I'd like to mail invites to, but I was wondering if I should add a hand-written note that says something like "we're huge fans and we understand that you won't come, but we'd love if you could sign and return the RSVP card." Did anyone who did this include a personalized note in their invitations, or did you simply send the same invitation packet that you sent everyone else?

Thanks!

I've seen others just send the invitation without a note. Some will respond and some won't. FHs parents invited the president when they got married and got a nice letter back!

Presidents & former Presidents typically will send a congratulatory note. While other celebrities will typically send an autographed picture. All without the note in the invitation. There have been a few threads where people have shared the things celebrities have sent back.

Actually presidents themselves don't send anything back. They have a team out of the office of advance and planning that is trained to sign his name to everything and they respond to all invitations from anyone (including civilians and even royalty).

I've heard that Disney characters will respond.

LOL, that isn't much different than what many celebrities do. Except, I'd have a hard time believing that people are trained to duplicate the President's signature. That would be a huge security vulnerability.

Agreed with Patrick. I really doubt people are trained to sign his name. That could definitely turn into a national security issue very quickly. They might have an online version they can sign print to a card, but knowing how to forge the presidents signature. Highly unlikely.

We sent out 8 celebrity invites. We wanted to send more, but ran out of time. We sent them the same way we did to our guests. We figure they know to treat it like fan mail. So far we've gotten nothing back, but I've heard it can take a few months. We did get tweeted though by the Riveters from the NWHL, which was pretty cool.

I sent one to Minnie and Mickey, I heard they send a signed photo back and a Just Married Pin. I also sent one to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and I hope the just sends me a singed autograph back, I've been a big fan for 20 years.

My friend sent one to Payton Manning and he send his RSVP card with his autograph.

A lot of the time they have a stamp for the president's signature.

How weird. You do know these are real people right? How would you feel if random people you never even heard of sent you a wedding invite begging for a response. People act strange when it comes to celebrities.

I'm so excited to do this! It's all in good fun, and some celebrities like getting these invites because it's not just gushing fanmail, it's actually an invite! Chances are, they won't be able to make it... But there's always that off chance they could!

I just googled how to invite Blank to my wedding and it came up. I had forgot all about this, glad I remembered now, because it typically takes a long time to get a response.

I can see the fun in it. People crash weddings and do random things.
