Cell Phone Privacy In a Marriage

The Bride, on July 4, 2019 at 12:39 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 75
My now husband and I have shared our cell phone passcodes since we started dating 7 years ago. We trust each other and have nothing to hide so we figured why not. I might randomly pick up his phone to play a silly game that I refuse to download on my phone. And he might pick up my phone to send himself pictures that we recently took. Either way it doesn't bother us.

What are your thoughts? Should married people have each other's cell phone passcode?

I think it’s a personal preference but my fiancé and I share our passcodes with each other while still respecting the others’ privacy. I’d play a game or something on his phone but I typically ask him if there’s a reason for me to go on his social media. He doesn’t like reaching out to people so he had me message his family on facebook through his account for their addresses ha.

I agree that it's definitely a personal preference. What measures do you and your fiance take to still respect each other's privacy?

I think yes. If a emergency happened and you needed to get into their phone to check things like recent emails for bills or a bank statement or contact numbers depending in how sick and for how long the other person is. All that is easily accessed on cell phone.

Nothing crazy, we just basically double check with each other if it’s okay if we are on the others phone for whatever reason. The answer is always yes, so it’s really more of a respect thing than a “are you hiding something” question.

My FH and i are the same. We share passcodes and we take each others phone for random reasons. I feel like it's part of trusting each other.

We shared our passwords shorty after we started dating but we trust each other and respect each other’s privacy. The purpose of sharing the password is mostly convenience and something that’s natural to us.

My fiance's cell phone is paid for by his job. I dont particularly want access to it. Lol. He will unlock it and give it to me if he needs me to do something for him. (Its fingerprint protected)

He (and most of my friends) know my passcode and I know most of theirs. Passcodes are to keep strangers out, not friends. Smiley smile

I don’t go snooping through his phone and he doesn’t go through mine. Sometimes I just like to see what games he has or so I can do something for him. I really don’t need his phone. He gives me the passcode if I ask but I honestly never remember. He can use mine when he needs to. We usually ask before using. But yeah, mostly just mutual respect and trust in each other is how we deal with that.

I think he knows mine, and I could probably get into his phone (he has one of those swipe a pattern passcodes), but his phone is almost always dead or buried under crap somewhere. He’s really bad at keeping an eye on it!

I don't think couple's should ever "snoop" through each other's phones, it shows a lack of trust.

Wow, that's actually impressive. In this day and age not having your phone attached to your hand is rare.

We have each others' codes, nothing to hide. We only have codes in case we lose our phones and to keep strangers out.

I want my wife to have privacy--even to b***** about me. So no, I don't need her passwords.

My fiancé and I know each other’s passcodes but we never really go on each other’s phones unless we’re sharing videos or want to show each other something. It’s just a respect thing and trust
