Cell Phone Privacy In a Marriage

My now husband and I have shared our cell phone passcodes since we started dating 7 years ago. We trust each other and have nothing to hide so we figured why not. I might randomly pick up his phone to play a silly game that I refuse to download on my phone. And he might pick up my phone to send...
My now husband and I have shared our cell phone passcodes since we started dating 7 years ago. We trust each other and have nothing to hide so we figured why not. I might randomly pick up his phone to play a silly game that I refuse to download on my phone. And he might pick up my phone to send himself pictures that we recently took. Either way it doesn't bother us.

What are your thoughts? Should married people have each other's cell phone passcode?

Smiley surprise It horrible that your friends caught their spouses cheating that way. I wonder if they shared their passcodes...

I can pick up my husband's phone at any time and he wouldn't blink an eye. Even if I wanted to go through his call log or text messages I don't think he would care. Luckily I'm not that type of wife.

Do you think you will exchange passcodes once you're married? Or will it still not be necessary?

I know my fiance's call log is all answering calls from his mother and doordash so I don't need it unless I'm opening the door for food 🤣

I dont even have a passcode on mine. He has one but I dont know it off hand and I'm not sure I care to. If he needs something done on it he tells me the code so I can log in or it's already unlocked. I trust him and he trusts me. Simple as that.

I would be afraid of not passcode protecting my cellphone.

We dont know each other's passcodes...but we dont feel the need to either. We don't go through each other's phones rarely answer each other's phones. I feel its personal preference, we totally trust each other. This hasn't been an area of contention between us, but we're really open and honest with each other.

As long as it hasn't become an issue in your relationship then I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree it’s a personal choice. Almost 2 years ago I endured a very hard event at work. That event taught me to make sure someone knew how to take care of my daily life. My FH knows every password and codes just in case something were to happen again at work or in my daily life.

I don't have mine on code. She does and I know it. We'll use each other's phones occasionally. We don't snoop. I often don't keep mine handy. Phones are my nemesis.

This is definitely a personal preference. My FH knew my passcode early on, and he ended up using the same passcode for his phone. So now, both our passodes are the same lol. We, however, don't just pick up the other person's phone, but if he has to check something on my phone or if I do on his, totally not an issue.

I definitely think partners should share passcodes in the event there is an emergency.
