Centerpiece giveaway game that gets the dancing started

LadyL, on September 7, 2012 at 12:56 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3

Hello ladies,

I am trying to think of a game/idea that will give us a chance to give our centerpieces away to our guests, while also getting the dancing started for the night. So basically, something that would require them to stand up, and after, stay at the dance floor.

Any ideas would be great!

I think centerpieces as prizes for a game is super tacky! Usually the bouquet toss and/or garter toss gets people up, laughing and on the dance floor.

If you insist on doing another game, buy or make real prizea. Don't use your centerpieces, that just looks cheap.

I wouldn't find it tacky to give away centerpieces, I think it's a fun idea. A "who has the worst or dorkiest dance moves" would work for one thing. You could also do like they used to do on "Let's make a deal" A prize for the first person to have a lipstick in their purse, then the person who can pull up the bride's phone number first, then someone who has an orange shoe, and stranger and stranger things as you go

Have you asked your DJ for some suggestions? Most of the time, we just do "pass the spoon" (with a twist).

If you're not familiar with the concept... it's essentially the same thing as "hot potato." You pass the spoon to the person on your right. When the music stops, we ask the person holding the spoon to stand up for recognition... and award the center piece to the person directly to the right or across from them.

I can't help but wonder... why do you want to combine dancing with a table object? While I'm sure I could come up with a creative idea... I don't think it would make people feel very comfortable.
