For the jars, I would check the dollar store or Facebook market place. they have a lot of those around me. for the wood slabs, I think I saw them on oriental trading.

First check local Bride to Bride and Buy and Sell Facebook pages. These items are regularly sold by brides after the wedding.

Do a search on www.searchtempest.com

People give away mason jars on Craigslist all the time.

WalMart and the Dollar Store have inexpensive jars. You can order them by the case at Dollar Tree and pick up at your local store.

Contact local arborists to see if they will be pruning and will give you the wood. Many guys will slice the branches into rounds for a case of beer on the lunch hour instead of chipping them.

Wood slabs are so expensive from what I've seen. I'm doing something like this too. Maybe try to see if anyone you know is cutting down any tress that could give you some. Just be sure to give yourself enough time to get them treated.

Ask on local fb resale groups. There's a lot of people in my area that give away free wood and you can just cut them yourself.
You may even find cheap mason jars. But I know you can order a 12pk for around $8-$9 from walmart.

I’m doing a super similar centerpiece! My FH is actually making our wooden chargers himself, with the help of his parents’ neighbor who operates a wood mill on his property. They can get a little pricey to rent or purchase from a store! I bought pint and quart sized mason jars from Target. They come in packs of 12, and we need at least 18 of each so the rest will be used for our ceremony decor. A few weeks ago, they were on sale for 10% off so I got them pretty cheap, less than $1 a jar! Plus an extra 5% off of you have a Target Red card. These were the cheapest I’ve found mason jars since I started looking.

You can try Hobby Lobby they always have the 50% off so you get 2 for the price of 1 & they have the logs as well. They usually have that sale every 2-3 weeks so just keep checking online. Good luck!

You can get the jars in cases from Walmart and Amazon sells the wood slabs in multiples!

Thrift stores have them all the time. I found a cheap wood slab at AT HOME store. I'm doing a similar thing with bright colors. I actually collect vintage mason jars. So that why I'm using them. Good luck

I got my wood slabs from Michaels, they usually have 40-60% off coupons which brought them down to $8 a piece. They have smaller sizes for cheaper.
