Ceremony and reception in same room

Monique, on July 21, 2019 at 1:00 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 21
For those of you planning to have the ceremony and reception in the same room how are you going to do a seating chart for the reception? Will you have it out to see when people arrive for the ceremony?

Are you having people sit at their tables for the ceremony, or will you have traditional ceremony seating and switch it over to reception seating? If they're flipping the room for the reception, I would keep the seating chart put away until cocktail hour.

Our venue does it all in one room but sets up for the ceremony then we go into the cocktail hour room and the room is blocked off and they set up for the reception and will put everything out then. Maybe ask the venue how they manage that?

We are having ceremony and reception in one room. They will have rows of chairs set up for ceremony and some tables and chairs behind for more guests to sit for the ceremony. After the ceremony the cocktail hour begins and the stuff will remove the chairs and set up all the tables with our centerpieces and table numbers. I am going to ask my venue whats easiest. But i might have them put out the seating chart after the ceremony so that makes people walk around and sign our guest book and then find the seating chart.
Although i fear that if i put it out after, people might NOT walk around or know there is a seating chart and just try to sit wherever

We booked the entirety of our venue for this reason; I didn't want our guests to feel like they were only allowed to be in certain parts of the venue. The ceremony will be in the great hall, and then guests will move over to the bar area for cocktail hour while the room is being flipped.

I figure just have people at their tables. I will be going this week to check out the room better and take some pictures though.

Do you think having fully decorated tables would distract from things such as the aisle decor ect

That's actually a really good question! I think it would depend on the type of table decor. i'm doing white tablecloths, a square candle holder with purple and silver gems with a sparkly silver flamless tealight, lavender, white and dark purple flower petals. I'm still deciding on runners. I am not sure yet what i'm going to do for my aisle. I want to get a runner. I looked into an arch, but getting it there is an issue. I may just pick up to potted fall flowers the day before to set at the end so I know how far to go. I think it would depend on if you're decorating the aisle too. I think as long as the table decor compliments the aisle decor it'll be ok

We are having the ceremony ugh and reception in the same room.
But I'm ADAMANTLY opposed to people sitting at tables for my ceremony. So we will be flipping the room after the ceremony. Then putting escort cards out somehow while flipping the room.

This is interesting. I am doing my ceremony and reception in the same room, and all the guests will be seated at their tables during the ceremony, so the room won't have to be flipped. I guess I would put the seating chart on each table prior to the ceremony beginning.

My aisle will be a red aisle with “snow” blanket on the outside. There will be poinsettias in the snow that are red and gold. My tables will be white but will have a red mesh liner with a Christmas garland centerpiece.

I usually run errands, or hit up a bar with friends, or even go home and catch a nap between ceremonies and receptions. I assume they'll do the same.

The ceremony and reception set ups are very different for our venue.

So, we will not have any kind of assigned seating for the ceremony, but there will be a seating chart for the reception.
