Ceremony Arch

C, on October 13, 2020 at 3:30 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 6

Did anyone have issues with their arch falling over either due to the weight of the flowers, wind, or both? My florist said that her flowers are arranged in some kind of water bag (not sure exactly what she said/the name of it), but they will be heavy. My venue also can be windy. I really want an arch so I'm just looking for workarounds. I'm looking to have a hexagon arch with one arrangement on top and one on the side

We didn't have that issue with ours. Our issue was that in the sand ceremony photos you can't see my husband's face because of the linens on the arch. If we had realized this, I wouldn't have had the arch.

We were so worried about our backyard arch-pergola thingy blowing over! We purchased these small (18-24 inch) rebar poles from Home Depot. We hammered them into the ground next to the base of the arch leaving just a few inches exposed above ground. We then anchored the arch to the rebar with heavy twine. It was discreet and worked great! Good peace of mind lol. Good luck!!

If it helps, no issues with our arch. My florist placed artificial flowers underneath and topped with real ones. Our arch was more of a chuppah with four pillars. We absolutely loved it! We got married on a windy outdoor rooftop and it didn’t shake at all.Ceremony Arch 1

We only had flowers on the front of our arch, and the arch itself was pretty light so we did have that issue. We secured the back of it with string and tent pegs. It wasn’t visible and it did the trick

Our florist told us the amount of flowers she felt comfortable putting on our arch, so that's how many flowers we had on it. My dad had built the arch out of sticks he found (it was more attractive than that description made it sound) and I think he was kind of nervous about it, but then there was a hurricane the week before the wedding and the arch survived, so I don't think any of us were really worried about the weight of the flowers after that.

If you're worried about the arch falling over, you could always put burlap or a different material of sand bags down on the bottom to sort of steady it!
