Ceremony Decor for Doorway

Cassie, on April 3, 2018 at 7:51 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

I need some ideas on a way to dress up the door that me and my FW (along with our bridal party) are going to walk through for the ceremony. We are having our ceremony on a patio at our venue and the door we are walking through is pretty plain.

Anyone have any ideas on how to dress it up? Looking for something not too elaborate.

Again, the door we will be entering through - the door to the left will be closed and the door we are entering through is circled and will be propped open all the wayCeremony Decor for Doorway 2

The setup of our ceremony. We will be having a different arch (birch) and it will be decorated with flowers. And we will have tulle wrapped around the railing.Ceremony Decor for Doorway 3

Thank you!!

Do you need to decorate it? People will stand up and turn around when you're starting to come out, but they'll be focused on you and not the door, people at the front near the arch may not even see you, and you won't be at standing at the door for very long. If you want to decorate, maybe use the same flowers or tulle at the arch and railing.

No, we don't need to, I just thought it was kind of ugly to walk through. I'm trying to think how I would even be able to use to tulle since there isn't really anything to "wrap" it around on the door?

I don't think you need to decorate it. I think if the aisle was directly in front of the door then it might make sense to add trees, topiaries or big floral arrangements on tables on either side of the door next to the aisle. However, with the aisle being to the side of the door it might be a little off to do something like that, plus there is a risk of someone from your party running into the decor coming out of the door and turning to walk toward the aisle. No one will pay much attention to the back anyway, especially when you're upfront so I wouldn't worry about decorating the door. If you really wanted something, perhaps a floral wreath or two on the doors themselves?

That’s a tough one! That is one plain door lol but with that being said I do agree that even if you did nothing, I don’t think many would notice. If you are dead set you want to decorate it I would maybe ask your florist how much it would be to create a large floral piece to go over the top of it? Maybe I’m not sure.. hmmm you could also do balloons on either side?

Maybe a smaller scale of birch and tulle to carry the same theme and cover the door yet not take away from your arch

First, come up with a couple of ideas and ask the venue if it’s okay to use such decorations. I know some venues can be a little iffy with that kind of thing

    as for suggestions...

you could get/make some sort of lightweight and portable arch and wrap tule around it and put it in front of the door way

You could also border the floor of the door way with some fire safe candles, flower arrangements, signs, or other decor

An easy decor item is to take large branches ( get them free from arborists pruning or removing trees), spray paint them white and pot them up in inexpensive gallon pots from the nursery. You can use expanding foam insulation to stabilize them in the pots.

Spread the "trees" out across the back instead of just focusing on the door.
