Ceremony music for a beach wedding?

Colleen, on September 19, 2018 at 12:58 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7

Looking for some thoughts on whether or not music is needed for a beach ceremony. I'm torn with getting it.

My DJ wants $150 extra to provide ceremony music.

Do I get music or not? Why and/or why not? Help!

This is just ME, personally, but for a beach ceremony I wouldnt bother with a DJ. Enjoy the sound of the ocean, the gulls, and the wind. If you want music, see if someone wouldnt mind streaming the song of your choice to a bluetooth mini speaker from a cell phone. This cuts down on the cost, but still allows for music to be played. Thats exactly what we will be doing.....streaming our chosen song (which will be on repeat playing softly) during the ceremony from my cell phone through a small bluetooth speaker.

    Hello,

i think background noise noise is a wonderful idea no matter where a wedding is. You can find some amazing playlists on YouTube for beach music.

but this is your wedding and your budget. If you don’t want to spend the money, don’t! The beach makes its own music too. 😉

I am a wedding violinist and I’ve played at the beach, but honestly I don’t think it was necessary. The beach is already a beautiful setting. But if you do want it, $150 is a good price. Live musicians will charge more than that.

Hi Colleen! If $150 is going to be too much to add to the budget, I say do without it! Agreeing with everyone else, the beach has it's own soundtrack and if you want any music you can connect a phone or laptop for some soft background music! Are you planning to walk down the aisle to a song or just the sound of the waves crashing?

This is what we are doing as well. I have a pair of Wonderboom speakers that are bluetooth and pair together. they will be placed under the benches about mid-aisle so hopefully everyone can hear them.

I am definitely having music. Although a beach wedding, we are technically on the 'bay' side of Key Largo, so there are not waves crashing, etc....

After talking to the event coordinator for the DJ she advised me that they would not be able to provide music for a beach ceremony because of potential damage to the equipment. And also should I have wanted it they would have charged another $150 on top of the $150 for the extra hour of service.

So no. No music at the ceremony. Not paying $300 extra for a 20 minute ceremony.

    Thanks for all your advice!!
