Ceremony only venue suggestions - not a church

Johanna, on November 30, 2017 at 11:36 PM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 8

We are looking to have our reception in a ballroom setting but I hate the way it looks for a ceremony. We aren’t getting married in a church and our wedding is tentative for December in Chester County, PA so outside isn’t an option either. Does anyone have a good suggestion for ceremony only venues?

I'm in the same boat! We have our reception venue locked down but we are clueless on ceremony venue. Its in November so we don't want it outside and don't want to do it in a church. No idea what to do!

Are there non-denominational chapels that would accommodate your guest list?

Agree look at chapels. Also look at some of the smaller towns. They usually have old fixed up buildings, barns or manors they just just for ceremonies.

A heritage railroad station, an art gallery, an old settler's house, the chapel at a senior's residence, private school or college, a restaurant or hotel with an inner courtyard, a museum, a conservatory,

Does your venue have another room - other than the reception ballroom - that could accommodate your ceremony? It would probably end up being cheaper, and far more convenient for your guests.

We are in the same lane over here definitely don't want a church. It's in August at 6:30 so we are very open to an outside venue in Philadelphia or surrounding areas just feel like we keep hitting a brick wall trying to find somewhere affordable

We are having the same issue. The reception venue doesn't allow ceremonies. We are looking for an inter-faith/non denominational place. The hotels we've tried won't allow ceremony without hosting the reception. We keep trying, but haven't found anything. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. We live in the Montgomery County, PA area.

Hi Frances Smiley smile I didn't end up going this route but we looked at a nice winery and a brewery that were both willing to do this. I don't know about montco, these were both in lancaster, but that's always a good route. We ended up going with a place that did both ceremony and reception (and we chose january so we actually got our ceremony fee waived - pro tip!)
