I need a little help. First, our ceremony is going to be short, light-hearted and non-religous. A little backstory: FH and I are high school sweethearts. We dated through college and were actually engaged previously but ended things prior to getting married. We were on again, off again for almost 4 years (mainly because of FH and him needing to "sow his wild oats" ha ha)
ANYWAY, I wanted to poke a little fun at the fact that it's taken a while for us to get to this day, considering we've basically been together for 16 years, and insert a line at the end of the opening statement about it. Any suggestions for wording?
Here is opening statement:
Friends, Megan & Daniel have invited us here
today to share in the celebration of their marriage. We have come together not
to mark the start of a relationship, but to recognize a bond that already
exists. {INSERT WITTY STATEMENT HERE}
I've thought of:
1 "....but to recognize a bond that already exists, and has existed since high school. It's only just taken us several years to get here."
For some reason I'm drawing a blank on other options...
