Ceremony Programs - Need to Have or Nice to Have?

Nice to have unless you're having a religious ceremony where many of the guests won't know what's going on.

Nice to have if it's hot and you need a fan! Otherwise, just more junk to throw away

Not needed for a short ceremony or if it's low on your priority list. We won't have them-- they aren't a necessity for us.

Need to have- I like to able to follow along when I go to a wedding and keep track of what's going on during the ceremony.

Nice to have especially if you have a large bridal party and want all their names displayed.

Nice to have, unless your ceremony is long and complicated and requires guest participation or explanations of traditions.

It’s nice to have. We are doing a joint ceremony and reception program. It will have faqs about our venue and things they can do as well as the reception schedule. It will have everyone’s names in it and a thank you message.

Nice to have. Our ceremony is too short for us to bother but if we had a longer more traditional one I would’ve cared more about having them.

I am not having them since mine is a short ceremony. But I still think they are very nice to have if the ceremony is longer than 30 minutes.

For us, it was a need. My in-laws and some friends from outside the US that don’t speak English attended and our ceremony was completely in English.

We had programs in English, Spanish, and we had four printed in Portuguese for our Brazilian friends.

For my in-laws my amazing SIL translated the script of my entire ceremony and I had wrote out the ceremony in Spanish so they could follow along. My MIL cried so hard.

For that alone it was worth it.

We’re doing programs but ours is for the whole night and not just the ceremony. I think the ones for the ceremony are really not needed unless you have a long and complex ceremony.

If your ceremony is very religious or culturally based I like them because you can explain traditions. If your ceremony requires audience participation or is in a language a chunk of your guests do not speak they are a must, otherwise, they are unnecessary especially for a short ceremonies.

Nice to have. We’re planning on doing them, though!

Nice to have for religious ceremonies or for hot days to use as a fan, but otherwise definitely not necessary.

Nice to have. We are skipping this. Another thing that will end up going right into the trash.

I suppose nice to have however I feel really indifferent to the whole idea. We are skipping this but then again we are having a rather untraditional wedding and everyone all 200 guests all know each other and everyone in the ceremony!

I think it’s nice to have these for guests, but for me personally I’ll just send out a digital one the day before our wedding if it’s requested
