Sorry its soo long!!
1 week till my wedding!!
Soooo i have got mostly positive feedback on my ceremony seating untill yesterday. So i really want some honest opnions on how you would feel if you showed up to an outdoor wedding and were asked to sit on a blanket in the grass... lol
The wedding is a totally laid back picnic wedding. We are getting married at an outdoor venu with a pond and several gazebos and a huge deck off the banquet room. So 99% of the wedding will be outdoors. There is a little path thats takes you over to the pond and we are getting married at the end of it under the trees. On both sides of the path its all nice grass. When i was looking at the chairs they had for us to use for outdoor seating they are ugly!! So i decided to get a ton of blankets and sheets and spread them out all through the grass and everyone can hang out and sit on those. I did get two really cute wood benches to put up front off to the side for grandparents so they dont have to sit on the ground. We also have a big gazebo that seats about 25 that people can also sit it. So they dont have to sit in the grass. We are having a bonfire in the evening and will have several sets of cornhole set up. We also dont have a sit down dinner we are doing buffet stlye and they can eat whenever they are hungry and sit indoors or out.

So i feel for the type of wedding we are having the blankets would look awesome. I want some honest feedback from people who dont know me and wont be afraid to hurt my feelings. Thanks so much everyone!!

Pictures were my inspiration.

I would probably be OK sitting on the ground for the ceremony, because the ceremony will be short, so a total of 45 minutes for prior to and during the ceremony. There is no way I want to sit on a blanket for hours - the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and the remainder of the reception. I want a frickin' table and chair.

Though it may be a cute idea and inspiration pics make it look trendy, I would be upset to have to sit on a blanket outdoors. The ground might be damn or crawling with ants and other insects I'd honestly be distracted during the ceremony feeling uncomfortable and worried about a spider coming onto my blanket. I wear dresses when attending a wedding and wouldn't like to worry about sitting uncomfortably to make sure I'm keeping everything covered sitting on a blanket. And I'm not even someone with pain ailments to consider, so for their sake definitely get chairs!!

If you decide to still go with blankets, be sure you check with your venue that they even allow that.

This would be a hard no for me. I work with kids and sit on the floor at work. If I came to a wedding and saw this I’d probably turn around or stand in the back. Also I have knee and back problems. I know you said your guests are mainly under 30, but I’m 25 and have issues sitting and getting up. There’s no support for anyone with back issues and getting up and down could be difficult for people. Go with the chairs no matter what they look like

I would be quite upset if I had to sit on the ground for a wedding. A couple years ago it would have been impossible due to physical limitations, and even now I would find it incredibly uncomfortable in a dress.

I saw a wedding similar. It was really sweet! It was a morning wedding with a very few chairs and a nice brunch spread. It was quite short and I think that's what to be prepared for.

No this is not a good idea. Your guests' comfort should be your focus. There are many people of all ages who have physical issues you can't see that would make this type of seating very painful. Not to mention the bugs, ants, etc. Also, what will happen if it rains at all before the day and the ground is still wet or if it rains on the day?

Nooooo blanket in a dress. I’d rather stand.
I think an ugly chair is way better than no chair.

also, what if the ground isn’t totally dry?

No way would I ever consider sitting on a blanket for a wedding I'd dressed up nicely for. It would set a miserable tone for the day, and would end up being the memory of your wedding that will be on everyone's mind.

"Went to a wedding this weekend, and oh my gosh we had to sit on the GROUND!".

I would be extremely unhappy sitting on the ground in a dress. Also eating on the ground in a dress. Find a rental company that has enough chairs for ALL your guests.

Are you going to make the guests aware of this ahead of time?

Am I reading this right that there won't be chairs to sit on for dinner either? That's a long time to expect people to go without sitting on a chair of some sort. If a person has any type of injury, that's going to be really uncomfortable, no matter what age they are.

Additionally, if somebody has allergies, sitting on the ground is going to be miserable.

Aesthetically, it definitely looks cute, and some people may be on board with it, but I wouldn't assume that everybody would be.
