Ceremony seating for microwedding

Cindy, on October 18, 2019 at 9:44 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
Hey all,
We are having a microwedding with about 20 seated guests. We're planning to have it on the back patio of an Airbnb overlooking a lake (I've cleared it with them, don't worry!) and I'm just wondering how people set up ceremony chairs for their small weddings. I just stumbled upon circular seating which seems like a cool concept. How did you seat guests for your small ceremony? And were you happy with how the pictures turned out?
Thanks in advance!

We were in a church sanctuary so the pews were already set up. I had people sit in the middle and towards the front. It turned out fine with the traditional set up.

Our AirBND had a plank walkway to the beach. We didn't go all the way to the beach but set up all the chairs to one side of the walkway essentially making our aisle to one side instead of the middle. For 20 people I might suggest a semi-circle of 6 on each side in the front row and 4 on each side of the second row. This would make it easier for guests to get to their seats.

Oooh I hadn't thought of doing uneven amounts for the rows; that's a neat idea. I will also take any other hot tips you have for an Airbnb wedding. I have found the end of the internet, it ceases to continue after searching "Airbnb microwedding" lol. Thanks again!

Honestly we approached it like any other wedding. We had almost no decoration since the house was beautifully decorated, but we did have a few pictures of the two of us placed with tea lights around the home. We did have centerpieces on our tables outside but you might not need that. Still one or two might be cute and they don't have to be expensive. We did set up a selfie station with flowers, props, and my wife's camera. It was a huge hit. I worked for months on playlists that everyone loved even if the dance floor wasn't quite as packed as I expected. Do you have a vision for the day yet?

I do, I think! Lol! We have a color scheme and I made a brooch bouquet that I'm in love with. We're doing it in Feb in Branson outside and I'm really hoping for a beautiful snowy backdrop (but not enough to screw up travel plans 😬). We don't have a bridal party so it will just be me for the processional and I think we'll do a hot chocolate station for guests to bring mugs with them to the outdoor ceremony. I'm dead set on a ring warming. My logistical issues mostly lie in the transitional things for the reception. Did you do a first dance? If so, how did you know when it was time? Did you have anyone do speeches? Also, what did you do for food? I'm thinking we'll cater in but there won't really be anyone to oversee that set up process. Thanks for the help!

That all sounds amazing, especially the hot cocoa. We did do a first dance. I had several playlists, one to play as guests arrived, one for the ceremony, one for cocktail hour/dinner, and one for the reception to begin with our first dance song. I knew which song was the last of the dinner playlist which was the signal we were going to thank our guests for coming. Our reception was the same day as her sister and our good friend's birthdays so we wanted to mark that for them. We then asked guests to join us for our first dance and began the next playlist. Our sons and future daughter in law put out the champagne and began a few short speeches after we cut the cake. It was such a beautiful moment. We hired a caterer that my wife knows and they were absolutely amazing. They prepped the food beforehand and arrived at the house early in the morning to put it all together. Once we let them in the house we didn't have to worry about a thing. They helped put out the cupcakes we had too. I had things planned out and not all of it happened as planned but it ended up perfect. Honestly it all feels like a bit of a blur so expect to just get caught up in the moment. The planning helped but we just kept going with it when the plans didn't come out as expected.

Well that makes me feel a lot more confident about doing separate playlists! Thanks so much!
