Ceremony seating for outdoor park wedding

Ashley, on June 19, 2019 at 3:40 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
We are getting married in a public park next year. I have looked into quotes for renting chairs for the ceremony but I'm not keen spending an average of $400 total for renting 50 chairs that will be used less then 30 minutes total even using the cheapest chairs available. We would have to find a way to move the chairs from the ceremony area ourselves after even though we rented the gazebo area. Since it's a public area I feel like you cant trust everyone and dont want something to happen to the rented chairs by leaving them there. I'm planning on buying folding chairs for the more elderly guests and giving the rest the option of standing or using provided blankets to sit. My mother got married last year and her ceremony was short as well (like 10 minutes) with a small guest count so everyone just stood and it was fine. We would be spending less then $100-150 this way. If it rains the ceremony will be at the reception venue instead of outdoors so blankets wouldn't be used then. In the end my fiance and I will do what works for seating, but I wanted to know if anyone has done this or been to a wedding with blanket seating and their thoughts on it. Wedding guest attire will be more casual since guests are all just family and lots are kids. Ex: Jeans and a nice shirt is fine, guest can dress up more if they would like.

I’m a firm believer that every butt needs a seat. Sure, the added expense is inconvenient, but that should have been considered when you chose your venue.

I'm not having seating since we are getting married in the sand. We are having a heart made out of flowers that everyone will stand around with us in the middle. Since no elderly will be there (DW) no worrying about someone not able to stand. Since it's a second marriage for us it will be short and sweet. I will provide beach blankets just in case but I think its fine and more intimate with everyone standing around us.

I mean, I've never seen this done...but you know your crowd better than any of us. Personally, I wouldn't want to sit on a blanket at a wedding. Simply because regardless of dress code, I'd still probably wear a dress; which I wouldn't feel too comfortable sitting on a blanket in. Honestly, I can't imagine many adults using the blankets, but the kids attending your wedding might use them though. I have been to a wedding where some of the guests had to stand though, and that wasn't too bad. As long as you can guarantee your elderly guests get seats and younger people that don't have any manners don't take up the seating leaving the elderly guests to stand.

You absolutely need a chair for every person. If the logistics of all this are too much for you, then you should rethink the location.

Maybe you can find a party rental place that will have it for cheap. i found a place for mine that was just 70 cents a chair for a white folding chair for my outdoor ceremony. so i'm sure you can try to find cheaper vendors.

I second the trying to find a different vendor or just buying a few chairs for your elderly guests
