Ceremony temp

Amanda, on October 20, 2019 at 7:39 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 13
My wedding is on the 26th (yay!) and I’m wondering if the temp is 53 and Sunny, is this too cold for an outdoor ceremony that will last 5 minutes? (Maybe 10 total with walking down the aisle). We would have guests inside until it was time for the ceremony to begin. What do ya’ll think? My heart is really set on outdoor but I’m not sure what to do.

I think 53 is too cold to have guests sitting outside.

Personally 53 isn't cold at all. Maybe know your crowd? Do you have a lot of elderly people? That'd be the only thing I'd worry about.

I dont think 53 is bad at all. It's not that long of time to have your guests outside.

I think 53 is fine. Maybe put on your wedding website or let people know by mouth that part of the day will be outside. Also, could you have those heaters they have at outdoor events?

I'm in Michigan and my 15 ceremony was outdoors and it was 46°. I had a fire going in the fireplace though so people could stay comfortable.

I think it depends where you are honestly. 53 degrees in Denver (where I live now) is much more manageable to me than 53 degrees where I’m from (the east coast).

What state is it in ? Because in WI if there's sun involved its a heat wave but if there's wind it's miserable. I could see day of and have a back up plan if it's to windy

I think it’s fine if it’s a short ceremony. Make sure your guests know it’s outside so they can dress appropriately.

Agree about giving guests a heads-up so they can be prepared. Daughter's dream was to have her January wedding in So Cal, outside. The historical temperature range was 62-75 degrees. As long as it was within that range and NOT raining, our plan was to stay outside, but there was an excellent bad weather alternative. We let guests know the plan via the website and email for family guests who were traveling. We totally lucked out! After five days of record-breaking pouring rain, it stopped 48 hours before the ceremony, and at the time of the wedding it was 78 degrees and sunny (and, honestly, a little sweaty...). But, people were prepared for it to potentially be a bit chilly.

Getting married on the same day in Northern Virginia and I'm currently fighting my mom about this. IMO, people can just wear a warm coat and suck it up for the 20 minutes that the ceremony will take. I've always wanted an outdoor ceremony and I don't think that people having to sit outside in 50 degree weather (which honestly isn't even that cold) should ruin that for me.

What time is the ceremony? if its during the day i think it should be fine. I would definitely try and reach out and let guests know its an outside ceremony/cocktail hour (if that is the case). If it is at sunset or after that - it is too cold for outdoor ceremony. Hope this helps! best of luck Smiley love

I think that's fine, as long as guests know in advance. I'd put it on your website & maybe a details card, just so guests know to bring a jacket.
