Ceremony Unity Ideas

My fiance and I were initially against doing a unity ceremony, but then I learned from someone on these forums about doing a whiskey unity ceremony, and so we decided that we're doing that! Beyond the vows? The wedding itself is about unity and mini ceremonies are actually only a few years old, so don't fit the definition of age-old tradition. You can do anything. Offbeatbride.com has several: pb&j, cocktails, guacamole, etc and write your own wording

I'm the same way! I was against a unity ceremony but it's the one thing my mother really said was special to her so we settled on doing a rose ceremony which is basically an exchange of a single rose between the bride and groom with the meaning of I love you and symbolizing how marriage is not going to be much different than the days before (like how we are both still holding a rose) but we gave each other our commitment to love one another through it all.

This is where I got the idea. I think I will do fake roses so we can save them forever.

In Mexico we do the lasso. We'll most likely sit on chairs facing the pastor for this part. The lasso goes as an infinity shape and the pastor prays for your unity. I think it's beautiful.

There is the Irish custom of three strands. I saw it at another wedding. Couples weren’t Irish either so not sure how much that matters. But if you pull up 3 strands wedding something will pip up!

An idea I saw on that old TLC show 4 Weddings was the glass ceremony. So similar to the sand but instead of it being thrown away you send off the mixed glass crystals and you get an item of your choosing back that you can have forever and it be a useful and actually aesthetically pleasing to look at.
