Ceremony Venue: Modern or Traditional?

The choice of ceremony venue has been switched up too! Less couples are getting married in a place of worship (just 25%!), and more couples are choosing to say "I do" in gorgeous gardens and unique spaces! Not at a religious venue but are adding religious components, so modern

I didn’t feel comfortable getting married in a religious institution, I was brought up agnostic. So we decided we’re having an outdoor ceremony, probably in a garden somewhere.

Probably more on the modern side. We are both VERY non-Catholic or Christian, or whatever. As I am a pagan, and he follows mostly paganism, we are planning a handfasting. Now whether we have a true pagan officiant is dependent on if we can find one in our area. If not, then we will probably just have a non-denominational ceremony, which is mainly for the family, not so much for us.

I had mine at the courtyard of a church but I've always wanted an outdoor ceremony too

Traditional. We're getting married in a church. That helped keep the cost down. We debated on an outdoor ceremony. Since our wedding is in the beginning of September, the weather can be a little unpredictable. We didn't want it to be too hot and we didn't want to deal with the chance of rain.

I guess it's considered modern, but we're planning on getting married at a beautiful historical building in Fort Collins. Neither of us is religious, so a place of worship was out of the question.

I always thought I'd get married in a church. However, I'm Catholic and my fiance is Christian. We attend his non-denominational church, although I sometimes go to Mass with my mom. We're having an outdoor ceremony at our local zoo with a reception following.

This is a modern choice that I never thought I’d actually do. Growing up and my young adult years I always envisioned I’d get married at my church (or on top of a mountain somewhere). We compromised and went with an outdoor venue that’s meaningful to me that’s also close enough for all friends and family to come.

Modern. We're getting married at his house in the spare room. So we won't be worrying about weather, time to decorate, layout, cost, or transport. 😉

We are getting married outside, but I view nature as God’s sacred space, so mix??
