My FH and I are on a budget also we are having a lot of guest come from out of town. We decided to have our wedding and reception at a hotel in the same room just so that it will be easier for my out of state guest. I would like to have my guest already seated at the tables during the wedding ceremony. I really don't want a traditional wedding, the ceremony is going to be short and sweet. But do you all think it will look tacky to have the guest seated at their tables during the ceremony? I've attached pictures below so that you can get an idea of the set up. I figured it would be nice because my guest will not have to move.

Not tacky all all. I've seen David Tutera do it and it looked great

We are doing the same thing to cut costs. Your set up is gorgeous! My hall cordinator will be in charge of everything and she has set up ceremonies in front where they head table is. They want to charge me a rental fee for the arch way though. I'm still debating what it will look like and if I want to shell out the extra money for it.

I just stumbled across this site today and I'm enjoying reading everyone's input. I really like this idea and the pics you shared are great. I contacted a chapel to rent for the ceremony but I was told they don't rent just the chapel this early so I'm thinking that this might definitely be a possibility for me! Thanks!

I considered the same thing until I changed venues... It was similar. we were going to have the dance floor on one side of the room with chairs on the right of the dance floor but facing it (since on the dance floor was where the ceremony was going to take place). Then the rest of the room would have tables set up. The chairs for the ceremony wouldn't be in the way of anything else. And not really any wait time to change anything over.

We are doing the exact same thing!! guest will be seated already at the tables during ceremony. i dont think it would be great to have them move from one chair to the other. thats why i picked it like this. mush easier for the guest Smiley smile

it will work out perfectly no worries

We are doing the same thing, and we aren't traditional either, I was thinking that we would have the chairs set up like normal and then when the ceremony is over, everyone move their chairs to the tables.

I've seen it done before, although it wasn't something that I wanted for myself. We're having our reception and ceremony @ the same venue, but we're having the ceremony in the Gazebo outside. However, as a backup plan (in case of rain) we also reserved a room inside. The funny thing is that when we got married at the courthouse, after we all went out to dinner, we had one of the worst storms in IL history! I told my hubby I heard it was good luck when it rains on your wedding day, so because we had a semi tsunami, we're going to be married forever!! lol

I'm thinking about doing this also. I've been searching for decorating ideas and easy ways to turn the room. I found this pick that looks like it would work really well. I like how all the chairs are facing the ceremony yet still at the tables.

I really love this idea! Not only is it a money saver, stress saver, and down time saver, I think it is a beautiful setup. Sitting at a table, I feel, would make the guest more comfortable.

Request 1: If anyone has anymore picture ideas to put on, I would appreciate it.

Request 2: How did you do the seating? If you had seating assignments, how did you have your ushers remember the guest layout? Or did you not have ushers and just ask people to seat themselves at their placecards?
