Chair cover alternatives

April, on July 16, 2015 at 9:49 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 1

I dislike standard conference chairs just as much as the next person, but I'm having trouble justifying spending 1K on chair covers and bows (venue pricing) and even more on those beautiful Chivari chairs. Has anyone done their own chair decorations? The chairs have a little handle slot on the top where something could be tied; ideally I'm looking for something that can be done ahead of time and then attached quickly the day of. Any suggestions?

You can do sashes or bows by either renting them, or buying wide ribbon/tulle. To do them in advance, ask if you can borrow a chair. Tie each one around the chair and secure the knot. If using sashes, store flat so they don't wrinkle, if using tulle, just make sure they don't get tangled. Make one, slip it off, move onto the next. Make extras, and then day of, just slip them over the backs. We used to do this for events with tight turn arounds, and it's pretty easy once you get going. For something more unique, do a double knot rather than a bow, and position it so the tail is to the side, not centered on the chair back. ETA: I was going to add a picture, but just Google Chair Sash and you'll see tons of different designs.
