Chair Covers or Chivari Chair Rentals?

LadyRein, on February 26, 2020 at 8:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
I admit that Chivari chairs are gorg! I've liked them each time I've seen them. As an event designer, I love seeing the way they make an event look good. Now it's my day and the pressure is truly on! Almost every person I talk to is like, "I know your day is about to be fabulous." No pressure! But I am the bling queen so I get it. Everything is always over the top. The venue Orchard Creek Lodge is beautiful! The lake, the grass seating area, the stage, it's so grand, especially when really well decorated. The chair rentals are 6.00 per chair. My guest list is at 250-300ppl. Im not limited in the budget, but personally Im just not sure if I like the chairs over covers. The venue has white wooden folding chairs that we plan to drape with the chiffon sashes and bling cuffs I purchased. Im fine with those for the ceremony. For the reception we were debating renting chairs vs purchasing chair covers. To rent chairs the cost is 1800.00. I can purchase chair covers for 396.00. Both options make an event look elegant. I could go either way. I don't know why this is so difficult lol. I do this! I think Im just feeling the pressure and I need opinions from people who don't know me. Ive spent well over 20k already. At this point the 1800 wouldn't kill us. I just can't seem to make a freaking decision and hubby just wants me to have the day/vision in my head. Ive always been the executor. Ive never asked the bride if the chair rentals really made an emotional difference. I probably sound totally crazy over freaking chairs lol, but I genuinely cannot decide! My mom suggested if Im going to rent chairs to use them for both the ceremony and reception to get the most use out of them. Why is this so difficult? I swear Im over thinking this! Help! Who rented chairs? Who chose chair covers? Why? Which seems more elegant? I really like both ideas and our chair bows work either way. We are having a gatsby bash if that helps. Colors are black, cream, silver, and gold. I cannot believe a chair decision is that difficult. It has to be the pressure. I need a massage lol

Personally, I hate chair covers (the ones that hide the entire chair). Never have a place to tuck my feet, hide my handbag etc because of all that fabric. But this is just my personal preference.

I really wanted this very specific metal chair until I found out they rent for $16 each so we’re doing Chivari chairs instead. Who would have thought!!
If you like the chairs from the venue, use them or use the ones from the ceremony. As long as people have a seat, I doubt anyone will care!

I also hate chair covers. I find them to look bulky and they're uncomfortable to sit in. I am splurging for gold chiavari and am so excited. So that's my vote lol

You're right! I doubt anyone will care. I swore i wasn't going to be THAT bride tripping out over dumb stuff lol. But you actually helped me on the chair cover. I never get to sit so I I totally didn't think about there being no way to tuck feet or place a purse. If I order them I'll defintely get the arched one to avoid that! Thank you.

    Totally get it!!
When I saw the price of my dream chairs, I was really bummed. I wanted those chairs and that “look” and then my caterer said, that look lasts as long as no one is in the space. And since the chairs have to do double duty (ceremony and reception), I won’t have a fully decorated reception space without people so that “look” isn’t worth the extra money.

I’ve been going back and forth on this as well. Every wedding we’ve been to recently have had Chivari chairs. Some days I think just do the stupid covers and save $$$ but then I just can’t get over how much better Chivari chairs looks. I think we’ll go with them but we’ll see. That’s what we have budgeted for.

Me too ... just as of today when I saw a picture of my venue with the standard chairs which look like classroom chairs. I had planned to rent chiavari chairs, but the ceremony space did not look too bad with the standard chairs. However, my mom raised a good point and asked me if the standard chairs would create the look I wanted at the reception. And the answer was a resounding no! I had gotten excited about the possibility of saving that $2,000, but no can do. Chiavari chairs it is ... and I’m happy with my decision.

I dont like chair covers. I love gold chairs. They were my must have item for the wedding. Who cares about chairs? No one except me. Im very particular about decorating and executing my vision so chairs were a yes no matter the cost.

I think chair covers are awful and look cheap majority of the time. I’d spend the money to have nice chairs.
