Are you having to pay for it yourself? Is it a big deal breaker in your budget?

Mine come with my venue, so I am having them. If I had to pay for them, I probably wouldn't have them.

My venue has ugly chairs, but pushed in their not terrible. Once the room is full of people no one will notice the chairs.

    That's what I'm hoping anyway.

I don't like chair covers. I've only ever seen the satin-y ones, and they slip and slide too much for my taste. And I can't pull my feet under the chair.

I'd say let your budget decide. If your chairs are okay and you don't want to spend the money, skip 'em.

Not worth it for me. Not sure yet if its included in my venue, but I wouldn't spend that much on something I honestly don't think people will notice. Especially since with our group, there won't be a lot of sitting. I've never really understood them anyway. When your sitting on them, you can't see them. When your up dancing or talking, you don't notice them. I just don't get it! Lol

The chairs at my venue are plain, but not ugly. I'm planning to do sashes to dress them up but no covers.

My FH's extremely beautiful church has very ugly yellow chairs instead of pews so we are buying chair covers and donating them to the church afterwards for future weddings.

We are using the venue's chiavari (or whatever they're called) chairs. To quote the movie Clueless, they are not completely unfortunate looking (ha) but not exactly beautiful and not at all my taste. I'm ok with not getting chair covers for that too. The room itself is gorgeous and the church is more important to me so we're focusing on that. I suppose we could transport the chair covers from the church to the venue but eh, who cares? We don't need them. It will be fine.

It depends on the chairs and how important the look of your reception is. I was going to upgrade my chairs and then realized the extra $500 wouldn't be worth it because my guests honestly wont even notice im sure.

The chairs at our venue are hideous! Brown cushions on brown metal .... we are spending the extra $5/person which is gonna cost us but they are totally worth it!

I don't like chair covers. I am going with the ones that come with the venue. As Paris said, I don't think it matters once everyone is in the room and seated.

I love the way that chair covers complete the look and we were able to get a great deal on them through a Bridal show special so we got them. I didn't get the giant satin ones though, they are fitted to the chair so that they won't fall off throughout the night.

I personally like them. One of the prettiest weddings I saw had black satin table clothes and black chair covers with white sashes. I just thought it looked very elegant and pretty.

I think they are worth it. Not only am I anti ugly carpet but I'm also anti ugly chairs (for my own wedding...I wouldn't judge someone else's). I gave in on the carpet factor but the banquet chairs at our venue are NOT attractive. We will be getting the spandex-y fitted ones though, not the regular loose ones.

It's not included with my venue.. did any of you buy them online for cheap anywhere? and were they good quality if you did? The chairs at my venue are red and my colors are gray and yellow so I'm not sure if that would really clash too much or not.

Linentablecloth.com has a variety of table covers that are about the same cost as renting and/or cheaper.

The chairs at my venue aren't something I'd want bare so I bought chair covers. They were half the price of what they were going to charge me for renting them from the venue. I got mine from linentablecloth.com along with sashes for the chairs and a matching satin tablecloth for our cake table. After the wedding we're going to try to sell them to the venue b/c they're silver and the venue only has black and white available lol. When I showed the venue manager he really liked them.

The upside to buying them yourself is that you could possibly recoup some of the cost by reselling them so if it were me and I needed them, that's the route I would go.

LivelyBrunette, I think donating the chair covers to the church is one of the nicest things I have heard.

I don't like them at all, to be honest. They are just kind of icky. The only way that I would use them is if the chairs were the ugliest things on the planet. If they were okay or I could live with them, I wouldn't. Mine are celery colored so very neutral. I won't be covering them.
