Chair Sash Help!

Anonymous, on May 26, 2013 at 1:30 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 2

I would like to have chair sashes for our reception and I've spent the morning looking for some online (I have found them for as little at $.50 each which is really reasonable!) My question is this - are they just strips of material like tulle, organza or satin? If so, what would be the difference in just buying a bolt of tulle and cutting it myself? Also, this might be really silly, but how do they attach to the chair? Is tying it tighly around the back enough to keep it in place without sliding down?

A friend went to Michael's and bought all of her tulle.

Sashes are usually just tied tightly enough to stay up on the chair, from what I know about them that is. And yes, they are basically just strips of fabric. You could easily just do them yourself by buying a role of tulle or something. Tulle would be easy because any uneven ends would probably just blend in or fold over on themselves.
