Chairs or no chairs for beach wedding

Ashley, on January 26, 2018 at 7:28 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 18
We are getting married on the beach with no more than 100 guests. I really think having chairs for guests looks nice so that was the plan. My friend tells me she wouldn’t waste the money😐. I am saving quite a bit for rentals bc our venue provides a lot of what I thought we would have to rent so chairs are defintely in the budget. What do y’all think? Do chairs look nicer or does it matter?

Absolutely chairs. Don’t make people stand for that long.

Chairs, definitely chairs. 30 minutes may not seem that long until you actually have to stand for it.

Is she thinking people will just sit in the sand? Maybe a handful of chairs for older guests? I get that vision. It's part of a whole vision, though and it doesn't sound like that's your vision.

If having chairs for the guest you think looks nice and was in your plan, you do it, it's your wedding.

Definitely do chairs. The elderly and those with small children will expect them.

I’ve stood thru a few weddings and it was a horrible experience I mean if I can still recall it then others will to. They both had chairs available but the officiant never gave us the official go ahead to sit down so everyone stood. If you sat you couldn’t see anything.

Have chairs. It's not about whether the chairs will look nicer than not having chairs, it's about your guests being able to sit for your whole ceremony.

100% Agreed, I shuddered when I read that! Call me a princess but, I don't even sit in the sand when I go to the beach on a regular day; I always bring my beach chair.

OP, definitely have chairs. A good rule of thumb around here is to ensure there is a chair for every butt. Even if a few people don't use them the majority will and they will appreciate it.

Yea you need chairs. Even if you are having a short ceremony (15-20 min) people usually get there early -- 15-30 minutes early is when I would plan for, and that can add up to almost an hour standing in the sand in a dress. That is not comfortable for most able-bodied adults, let alone the elderly or those with any pain or discomfort.

Definitely do chairs for your guest to be comfortable . plus you can use the chairs on each side to create a aisle for you to walk down the beach.

Definitely chairs. I have an ankle birth deformity which makes standing for longer periods very uncomfortable (especially on sand!) so I wouldn't be enjoying your ceremony at all if I had to stand. The elderly and other guests will all appreciate it.

You definitely need chairs. Your friend may be willing to stand for that long, but no one else should be expected to do that.

PP also made a good point about chairs creating an aisle for you to walk down, as well. So, it will look nicer. But most importantly, your guests will appreciate being able to sit down.

Funny thing is “my friend” hates to stand anywhere🤣. Kinda surprised she even made that suggestion.
