Champagne Toast? Included or Extra?

Jolie, on March 7, 2019 at 9:04 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

So our venue doesn't include our champagne toast. Originally we had thought to do it for everyone at $5 a glass. Ugh annoying right? But then my dad brought up that that's a lot of extra time for the servers to be pouring and extra money, aren't the bride and groom just supposed to have it and anyone else just raise their glass of whatever cocktail/beer they are drinking? I was like hmmm yeah that makes sense idk why I didn't think of that. My mother seemed displeased with the idea lol but I honestly don't want to pay $5 extra for everyone. That's just another glass sitting on the tables for everyone then too.

A lot of people don’t like champagne and it’ll just go to waste, so I think it’s unnecessary. If you are having an open bar, everyone will already have a glass of their drink of choice. They can just use that to toast.

Where is the $5 a glass coming from? Is that the price set with the venue? I agree it is probably not worth it at that price, expecially if you have a lot of guests. I am having a champagne toast, but I can bring in my own alcohol so I am buying the champagne from a Total Wine and I have been slowly buying the flutes when I see them on sale. If you can't do that then I wouldn't spend the money!

I honestly wouldn't do it if it's not included. Our venue included it, and it was nice, but in all honesty most of the champagne wasn't even used - most people had a drink at their table anyway, whether from the bar, a glass of water or from the table wine. Definitely not worth stretching the budget for it!

Yes, the venue is providing all the alcohol and glasses. We are not allowed to bring our own for the reception. Maybe the $5 is because it's expensive champagne. I would presume as much since she told me a bottle to buy if we wanted while getting ready is $30. We're just sneaking in our own and concealing it for mimosas getting ready because I told her that was ridiculous and threatened we couldn't get ready there then. She said we can bring our own "within reason". Which to me just says hide it lol

Yeah I can agree with that! Plus we will have our engraved champagne glasses for ourselves so I think it makes the most sense to just have us have it. And who knows maybe because it'll just be us they'll waive the $10.

I agree, I was also trying to think about whether we should do it or not being that we will all have drinks by that time and can use whatever we're drinking. My venue charges too so im glad to know its not needed!

We arent doing one for everyone. Just champagne for us and our party, most people will already have a drink in their hand anyways.

Every wedding I have been to, except for one, did away with the champagne for toasts and let everyone use what they were already drinking. In my personal experience the weddings that did away with providing everyone champagne were a lot more efficient. My vote is to save the time and money!

Champagne toast is included in our package. We have the option to use wine instead. I'm sticking with the champagne. If our guests drink the entire glass, just take a sip, or toast with the drink they already have, that's fine with me.
I wouldn't pay extra for a champagne toast.

We're planning on skipping the champagne toast at our wedding. It's not included at our venue and would just be an extra cost per person. We both don't care for the drink and I've noticed at a lot of family weddings, there are so many unfinished champagne glasses left at the tables. It's just unnecessary for us. We will have a toast with whatever drink everyone has at the moment.

If you're not into it, I wouldn't recommend it as it would just be an extra expense and I don't think many guests will miss the champagne toast if it doesn't happen.

Our venue includes the champagne toast. But if they didn't I wouldn't pay for it. That 5 dollars a person could be used for extra apps, extra hour at the bar, etc. I don't think it's worth it personally.

That's what was suggested to us. My mom offered to pay for the champagne toast, so we are, but I think it's totally fine to have people toast with their drink.

We thought about this too, and we decided to just have people toast with whatever they have to drink. We will have the dj make an announcement beforehand letting them know the toast is coming up. We are already doing a mix of beer, wine and liquor so I didn’t want to add the cost of champagne and flutes on top of that.
