Champagne/Off White Dress-- What Color Tux?

Audreana, on November 21, 2016 at 10:38 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 24

Hey everyone!

Quick question, has anyone had an off white ivory/champagne colored wedding dress? If so what color did your SO choose for his tux?

Our colors are Oasis Blue and Grey, and I fell in love with a beautiful dress.... that just didn't come in white. So now we are confused on what he should wear.

At first he was deciding between grey or a black tux to match the oasis blue, but randomly he announced he actually wanted a white jacket with black lapel (which of course was declared after I purchased my dress)

Its not a deep off white/champagne, but its def not white-white.... help!

Yeah, I would not recommend a white tux In general I wouldn't recommend it, it's hard to pull off, but definitely not with an off white dress.

He could do black, navy, or dark grey.

Yeah, no, the ivory dress and starch white tux is going to clash. I agree with PP, the black or dark grey would work better.

My dress was champagne with ivory lace. DH wore a black tux with a white shirt and an ivory vest/tie.

White tuxes are really hard to pull off and I don't think it would look great with any color dress other than white. I would stick with a black or grey tux.

My dress was champagne and ivory and we did a black tux with a white shirt. The ivory shirt looked dirty. White tux jackets are hard to pull off!

Thanks everyone! Thats what I'm thinking, just stick to the grey/black options. I love that oasis blue with a nice deep grey.... just gotta convince my love to stick to the original script lol!

Tuxes come in three colors: black, midnight blue (almost black), and a summer version with an off white dinner jacket. Suits come in grey and navy and tan, all of which can look great with an ivory dress. I would go with a black or midnight blue tux if you want super formal, or a grey or navy suit if you want something not quite as formal.

He could wear ivory dinner jacket w black pants.

Gray or Black would also look great. There are so many shades of gray im sure you will find the perfect match.

Uhhh no white tux. Not unless this is black tie white glove service... otherwise he'll look like Elvis. Black or grey would both be fine. My dress is ivory, FHs suit is black.

I don't really think it's appropriate for either of you to tell the other one what they can't wear. It's his wedding too and while it's okay to tell him that you're not a fan of white tuxes, I think it should be his choice whether or not to wear one.

Also, white and ivory or champagne do not clash.

Black or grey. Avoid white or ivory, but if your FH is insistent on it, try to find an off-white tux that will complement (not match, not clash) your dress.
