Change of date cards

Shelly, on March 31, 2020 at 6:19 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3
Hi guys! I’m looking to send out something to my guests to notify them we have changed our wedding date due to covid-19. I did email/message them all that it was postponed and that we would reach out once we got a new date locked in. Word spread pretty quickly through the grapevine to my elderly guests who don’t use email or social media as well. I still would like to mail something out to them all since we now have an official date. Do I resend RSVP cards down the line? Our date was 05/08/20 and now it’s 01/29/21. I don’t want to assume the guests who have RSVPd can still make it since I understand things can change. I also do not want to resend formal invites since we spent a lot on the original ones. But about half our guests had not responded before we postponed and we announced the postponement before the RSVP due date. I also am not interested in using online RSVPs. Is it weird just to send an RSVP with no invite? The new date announcement is so guests have plenty of time to change travel accommodations or try to reschedule flights etc. Any advice on how to do this?

In my opinion I feel like you could totally just send an RSVP. Check with who you got your invites from if they have any options for change of date cards. I started looking at STD and Invites for my wedding next year and I keep seeing change of date cards.

I had to postpone my 3/27 wedding to 11/20 and I'm in the same boat - I spent so much time and money designing and putting together my invitation suite ( a lot of DIY) lol that I don't want to do all of that again. So I communicated the new date via text, and I think I'm still gonna do another 'save the date' but thats gonna be a digital version but I'll just text the image to everyone and then I'm gonna mail out another RSVP/details card - I'm printing out a card that has all details with the new date but then linking to our wedding website to tell guests to go here to update their RSVPs for the shuttle, their meal choice, and attendance (but that's just bc I'm being cheap and I don't want to deal with stamps and everything lol). But I think you can def mail another separate RSVP card by itself; it's a whole new date so it's not weird at all to ask guests to redo it! I'd just try and acknowledge the date change somewhere on there - like link to your website if you have one for more info, or on one side say 'RSVP for our new date' or any additional info so they know what changed and what hasn't, or if everything is the exact same, you can even say to look at the OG invite but just mail this RSVP back since it's a new date!

    Hi Shelly,

I agree with the suggestions above. You'll probably want to get RSVPs from all guests now that the date is changing. In my experience--no matter the deadline or how easy you make it--you'll have to chase down some of those responses. That's how it goes!

If you don't want to re-print RSVP cards for everyone, you could consider sending a Save-the-New-Date, email, and/or text (depending on recipient) with a URL or link to something as simple as a Google form that wold record their responses. I see you mentioned not wanting to do anything online, which is absolutely your decision to make; however, it is very common to collect RSVPs electronically. FWIW - If you have a WeddingWire wedding website, you can use the Guest List feature under Planning Tools to collect RSVPs.

Here's some inspiration for your new Save the Dates from another WW discussion: Coronavirus Postpone Announcement.

    Hope this helps! Smiley heart
