Change or keep

Rachel, on July 15, 2021 at 10:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 14
Hey ladies, so since my wedding was moved I'm stuck with a couple of things with my old date. Do you think it's taky to keep the old dates on things? Or should I just get new ones? Even though I paid $100+ here are some examples with things with dates. The welcome sign is engraved into the acrylic and I already contacted the vendors they would only give me 30% off a new one.which is still expensive and over $100 My new date is 02/13/22Change or keep 1

Did you actually get married on Feb 21, 2021 and just move the wedding celebration, or is your actual marriage date changed as well?

If nothing happened on 2/21/21 I would absolutely pay to change the date on your signage, because you weren't "established" as a married couple that day, your names didn't change that day, and the wedding did not happen that day so the only meaning that date really has is being your "old" wedding date.

If you got married on 2/21/21 and just moved the party, I think you could keep the Castillos established sign with that date. But I would still change the welcome sign to reflect the date of the event you are hosting.

For the wood sign, is it possible to have the seller modify just the date on the sign if you were to mail it back to them? Not sure if they're able to remove the old date and replace it with the new date, but that may be cheaper than buying a whole new sign. Otherwise, I honestly would probably just keep them the way it is and not spend the money to replace them.

I just went to a wedding and the had the original date crossed off and the new date added. I thought this was really cute because it is a memory of what was supposed to happen and what actually did/is. Could you send them back to have them cross a line throight and add the new date?

Yeah no nothing happened on that date. I also have to replace my wedding invitations too so it's becoming a lot to throw away.

For me I don't change anything. My original date was 4-25-2020 and I've moved my wedding 3 times already not paying anymore than necessary. I honestly don't care what people think.

Since nothing of note happened on the date shown, it's not really about it being "tacky" or what people will think, but just about you displaying a date that has no significance. I would either pay to change the dates or just forego having things with dates on them (except your invitations of course; there's no getting around needing new invitations).

I would scratch through the original date in red on the acrylic, write "Thanks Covid" above it, then order a vinyl sticker with the new date to put below it. As far as the wood sign, I would remove the date and add my own. You can buy wood letters at Hobby Lobby.

You could cross it off in a cute way and glue on the new date with little wooden letters? It’s a great way to showcase the craziness and makes for a great conversation piece! If you don’t want to do that I would definitely pay to get a new one with your new date

Yea, I would refrain from adding a date to future events for this reason. Fortunately the only thing we had the date added to (other than invites) was that my husband, unbeknownst to me, added our wedding date as a custom embroidery into his suit. We ended up marrying on our original date anyway, so it still has meaning to us, but all of the paper goods we purchased for our wedding had the new celebration date on it.
