Changing name- before/after NCLEX- any nurse's advice?

FutureMrsK, on February 17, 2016 at 11:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

I'm still early in the process, but if there are any nursing ladies out there that could help, I'd appreciate it! I graduate with my nursing degree two weeks before I get married- then I have to register for the NCLEX- should I change my name before that or after I pass that?

After you pass to avoid confusion w/NCLEX and the board of nursing. Once you pass, your results will go to the board to grant you licensure. After you get your license then change your name with the board.

Remember that your form of ID must match to the documentation to take the exam. I would avoid all name changes on documents until after you get your license. Will save unnecessary confusion and you a headache.

I agree. Your school has to release information to the board in order for you to be able to register. It will be easier if all of that matches to prevent problems or delays. It is really very simple to change your name after you have your license. You just submit the request with the marriage license.

After for sure. If they spy even one discrepancy they will put everything on hold.

What if I’m getting married this year? And I take the NCLEX 2023? Will it be easier to just change my name now before I take the NCLEX?

Hi. I married 2019. I filed nclex 2018, so they have my maiden name on record. I failed, unfortunately, so I need to retake it this year 2021. my question is, my ID is on my NEW MARRIED last name, I should only bring marriage license for it to be okay. am I right?
