Changing Our Mind On Photographer

Jason, on May 5, 2021 at 6:20 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

We met with a photographer over the weekend who happened to be at our venues open house. She is a sweet lady and her husband and my fiance went to grade school together (not close though). Anyways, we told her we wanted to use her and she sent us a contract (has not been signed) and we wound up finding another photographer who's pictures/style we both liked much more! How do I break the news to the other photographer that we decided not to use her? Ive never been in this position with a potential vendor before and dont know how to approach it.

"After talking to more vendors we have decided to go with a photographer who more fits the style we are going for with our photos."

I had a friend who actually took my photo on my profile thing here and she wanted to do my wedding. I love her photos and she is very talented but the way she tones she edits her photos with i'm don't super love. Its not fair to ask a photographer to change their style or editing! So I just let her know that I had found someone else who's editing / photography style fit our needs more. Smiley smile She was bummed, but I also know that she's had issues in the past where a client wasn't happy due to this reason. Each photographer has their own style and it doesn't determine whether their photos are good or bad, it just has to do with how you envision your day captured!

That's very true! I wouldn't expect them to change for us and would rather spend the monies on someone who captures/edits/etc the way we like! Thank you! Smiley smile

Just be upfront about the situation. Say you really enjoyed talking to her and appreciate her time, but you've decided to go with someone else. You don't need to apologize, just say thank you and keep it simple. It's just business, it happens all the time

You are 100% right! It's business and I will do just that, be upfront and honest with her. Thank you! Smiley smile I knew I was overthinking it!

I probably wouldn't get back to her. No signed contract means no guarantees.
