Changing the Illusion Top

Kris, on February 21, 2021 at 2:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

Has anyone ever taken out an illusion top and changed it to something else? Part of me wants to kill the illusion and add straps (either off the shoulder or thin straps) but I don't know how it would looK! I'm adding a slip to the dress, too, that makes it quite a bit fuller, but I don't have any pictures of that.

I recently commented on a similar post (you can probably find it through my profile) who wanted off the shoulder straps with a similar dress. She had pictures of the dress folded to visualize it, it was helpful!

I'm torn on this subject (similar dress) because I love off shoulder sleeves 😭 I honestly think removing the illusion top completely to add sleeves would be pretty easy for a seamstress. Definitely do-able 😊

Gorgeous dress! It can go either way but talk with your seamstress to find out the cost. If it’s something you can afford than go for it!

I love the illusion top style and I think the dress looks great on you! But again, since it's just illusion, it should be removable since it's not really supporting the overall dress.

    Beautiful dress! Smiley love

I can see how that could work - especially if you're adding support with straps! I'd ask a few seamstresses to see how easy the illusion part is to remove, and what they'd be able to do with changing the buttons on the back and adding straps!
