Not counting your own, what details from weddings you have attended stood out as being the best ever?

Open top shelf bar, delicious plated dinner, live band for the last 1.5 hrs of the reception (really revived the crowd and got them up and dancing!), very few (if any) speeches, photobooth (it’s been done a million times, and I still have a blast every time LOL). I also really enjoy destination weddings! I’ve had to decline attending a few due to work or finances, but I’ve had an absolute blast at the ones I’ve attended!

I love destination or quirky weddings, where it's not just same old. One couple I know got married in the forest and kind of made a "faire ring" just in the woods. It was cool. Another did hand fasting, which I thought was amazing.

The things guests remember are the feelings (is everyone happy and having fun?) the food/drinks, and the music.

Guests probably wont remember any other details unless you go out of your way to make it stand out. For example I cant remember what any florals from any wedding I've been to looked like, except for my one friend who both her mom and MIL were florists so they went all out!

My cousin’s wedding had servers passing out glasses of wine before the ceremony. It was a nice touch, especially because I love wine.

A full dance floor, friendly crowd, and open quality bar. I notice decor and love walking into a creative experience. Few or no speeches! Casual afterparties. One wedding had servers with jell-o shots and finger desserts served into the dancefloor. Another, the groom and his groomsmen did a dance for the bride.

No themes. Honestly, the worst weddings we've been to were ones that tried to have a theme (Alice in Wonderland, Halloween, Masquerade, 20s Gangster) that just fell flat and felt more like it was decorated for a child's birthday party than a wedding. If you want a theme, you need to be prepared to go all out and spend a lot of money to make it look like your pinterest boards.

Weddings I've been to with no overarching decoration theme, but included something special to the couple (two pilots had propeller table numbers, one wedding the groomsmen had blaze orange pocket squares to show their love for hunting, couples first dance was to a disney song of a theatre production they both starred in, etc) ended up far more memorable in a good way while still having unique touches for the couple.

Omg yes!! I think everybody sees themed weddings on Pinterest and thinks it’s such a great idea. But they don’t have the funds to pull it off. So instead, it ends up looking like a cheesily decorated Halloween party or kids bday party. They get so wrapped up in the idea of the theme, that they become blind to the fact that their event decor has become tacky. Most themed weddings require a very large budget and a skilled wedding designer.

Good DJ, decent food, good drinks.

    Open bar is a given.
