Charger Plates? A Must Have?

Mrs.Goose, on March 26, 2015 at 7:13 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 48

My second thread/question today (this should be a new record for me)

Are charger plates a must? We are doing a sit down dinner and for whatever reason I haven't even thought about them and now I'm wondering if maybe it's something I should have consider!

What are your thoughts?

Nope, definitely not a must. I'm not doing them. If you really want them and have the $ in your budget though, I say go for it!

Sure they look nice and help fancy things up, but they are costly and definitely not necessary.

Nope. The only time I recommend them is when you are having a buffet and want something to kind of fill in the table for pictures.

I did a buffet and thought they were necessary to dress up the tables. I had a small guest list and the nice ones I rented were only $1 a piece, so it was worth it for me to have the added effect. If you're having a big guest list and a sit down dinner, it's not worth it

Are they necessary? No. Did I buy them? Yes. Damn you wedding industry!

I'm glad I had them. They looked stunning on the tables, but now the big problem is getting rid of the darn things. It was cheaper to buy them than to rent them. Where do you live? I'll ship mine to you for the cost of shipping ( they're heavy, it might be expensive)...

Shipping costs. Email me, where do you live? I seriously don't want a dime for them. My email is *****.********@*****.***. I have a few boxes in the trunk of my car, and several in my guest room. I ordered about 120, and several have broken, but I'm guessing that I can count on at least 85 to be in perfect shape.

Definitely not necessary but I'm happy I'll have mine!! This is what our table will look like and I even made our menus to fit inside the chargers.

You don't need them. It's just another way to dress up your table. If my venue offered them I would have MAYBE used them, but my venue doesn't and the only ones I like are like $6.50 each to rent from the place we are getting all our rentals from. So, yeah that's like $900 dollars if I wanted them. Sure they make for nice pictures, but I think since we are having a sit down dinner and I am splurging on stationary the menu and other stuff will make up the tables really pretty. So, I don't think I'll miss them to much. So, it's just based on your budget and if you really want them.

Ok I just googled it lol...clearly I've never been to a fancy affair! Nay, it is just a plate that other plates sit on top of...you never actually eat off of the charger plate. Decoration! Crazy. Not necessary for this hick! Lol

Thanks JCC...I thought those were just place settings/decorations. I figured charging plates were something that kept the plate your food is on warm..lol I bought some gold ones like in @Karens picture for my place setting for Thanksgiving dinner they were a dollar from dollar tree....so we're talking $150.00 Ummmmm.
