My wedding isn't officially black tie, but is very close. I had the same issue because I wanted gold chargers. Ultimately I had to get nice plastic ones that look that look formal enough. The glass are super expensive, like $1,000 for 100. Maybe look into renting? Or see about a good quality plastic. Remember this will go under their real plate so you may be able to get away with it

Our venue had a book of photos of chargers that they could have rented to us, through their supplier. We chose a soup course, so they provided the plates. The were larger than a dinner plate and ivory (one of our colors) china and had gold (another one of our colors) embellishment and trim, with the hotel's monogram. It ended up not costing us any more. They stayed for the salad course but were removed before the entrée course was served.

Can you rent them from your caterer?

Thank you so much Ladies! I will look into all options. I know the glass is probably more expensive I just don't know another option to make the table setting very formal. My table cloth is Dupuri Gray with a dark gray napkin. We're mixing both silver and gold into the mix.. I realize they really just keep the plate chargers on there for a short period of time. I just love the look!
