Is anyone not using charger plates? I want to use them, but cannot find any cheap enough and FH and I are ballin' on a budget. We're having a buffet so the plates and flatware will not be on the tables and I'm a little concerned the place settings will look empty. Am I being crazy? Does anyone have...

Does anyone have pictures of place settings without chargers or maybe a recommendation of where to get chargers for cheap? I just want plain silver chargers.

I got charger plates from trades for about 1.50 a piece. This was also not really in my budget but I do plan to sell them afterwords and am hoping for at least 75% of the money back that I spent.

We're doing a buffet and not having charges either, although I like the look of them and think they really do complete a table, I just cant justify spending $200 or more on something that a plate sits on top of and thats its only use. And usually I have no problem justifying spending money!

We are not using chargers. We are putting a colored napkin at each place setting like this:

We're are also having a buffet and not using any charger plates. i wouldn't worry about "empty tables." they'll be fine.

something our caterer is doing for us is having everyone's salads already plated and at the tables when everyone walks in for the reception. it was something our caterer says they do pretty standardly and people usually appreciate having a little something to nibble on while waiting for their table to be called to the buffet. maybe that's something you could do?

otherwise, like i said, i really wouldn't worry about empty tables. it'll be fine. worrying about it would be an unnecessary added expense in my opinion.

I'm in the same boat as Maltese. I am planning on having votive candles take up some space around the centerpieces and then have the napkin (with silverware) in front of each chair. I also have a menu card, but I haven't figured where to put those on the table yet.

I love the look of chargers, but I also can't find any that are cheap enough. The cheapest that I've seen are $3 a charger. I will keep my eye out for you!

Our venue will only have silverware, napkins, and glassware on the table at the beginning, and I thought that looked a little empty too. We are renting silver chargers from a local rental company for $0.75 a piece and they will stay on the table for the first two courses (soup and salad) and then be taken away with the salad plate. We thought that was a reasonable price, and I won't have to figure out what to do with them after the wedding, since they're being rented. Hope this helps!

I used mine under my centerpieces. I bought them at Michaels during the black friday weekend. They were 50% off and then they had a coupon for an extra 20% the entire purchase. They came out to less than $0.50 each.
