Chargers or no chargers?

Alyssa, on March 4, 2018 at 4:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
Just curious what everyone else is doing. I'm unsure if I should get them or not. I don't want my tables to look empty but I just can't bring myself to buy a bunch of chargers that I'll use one time.

My plates are white with silver edges. I wonder if chargers would be too much anyway.

Thoughts?

We really wanted chargers for a long time -- but had the same issue justifying the price. After talking with our caterers, we realized that there wouldn't even really be room on the tables for them with all of the silverware, glasses, favors, etc. The tables were perfect without them -- they didn't look empty at all! You could always fold the napkins in the spot that would have had the charger, or drape them in a way that is more decorative than plain folding.

I like the look of chargers. Dollar tree sells them for $1. Michaels also sells them and has coupons often.

None. Seems like a waste of money to me. Guests won't notice either way.

No one needs chargers. They were used by wealthier people for formal occasions. Then the trend was adopted by us normal folks. We can't all afford glass chargers so acrylic became the next best thing.

No one will notice or care that you don't have chargers. As a pp has said, you could place the napkin in that space, or if you are having a plated dinner, have the salad course already on the table.

Agreed with everyone, I was dead set on having them and really didn’t want to use plastic but then once I saw the cost said nope !

We are doing chargers purely to help with decor on the table...I did not want to pay to have colored table clothes or napkins (each was an upgraded cost at a ridiculous price) but I needed it to tie into the theme/decor on the table. If it weren't for that, we wouldn't have chargers. But this way we don't just have white plates, with white napkins on white table cloths and then BAM color in the center only!

Waste of money, guests won’t really sit there and think “man, I wish my plate was on a charger!”

If if you really want them, splurge and get the good ones. Dollar tree chargers look so plastic and cheap quality. This is why I’d just skip them. People sit down to dinner for an hour max, then they aren’t at their table the rest of the night.

I like chargers - and I can rent them from my venue for $1 per charger - but thats an extra $150-$200 depending on how many guests we have.

I have decided to not use them because it really is an unnecessary cost IMO

This is a must for us. IT brings the look together, IMO. Also, you can get them for $1 each and resell them after. All of the wedding facebook pages I am on, they get bought up within minutes.
