chargers with plasticware? Yes or tacky?

Janet, on March 12, 2022 at 6:19 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10
Okay, so my caterer has really nice plasticware included (like the silver forks and knives that you can’t tell are plastic until you pick them up and feel how light they are), I don’t know exactly what the plates look like. But decorations are included in the venue I’m renting, so they have chargers I can use for no additional cost. Is this a good way to dress up the tables/look of the reception ? Or is this tacky to use with the plasticware? I’m getting married in a rustic, all wood and twinkle lights type venue on the water with 180 degrees views, lots of deck space. We’re having kids and with it being literally right on the water we thought it was smart to stick with no glass, just the plasticware (cups and champagne flutes plastic too)-safer, saves money, don’t have any rental things to return afterwards etc. But I need to know.. chargers or no chargers? Help!

No, I don't think it's tacky at all. I think chargers will dress it up just like you're thinking.

Do you have pictures of what everything looks like using the actual pieces? It’s a bit difficult to visualize.

Since the aesthetic you are describing sounds like it is on the casual side, you could go either way, leaning towards no chargers. It’s your preference. Guest me will not be horrified if you don’t have any, if they even notice.

Hey Michelle, thanks for your feedback! I don’t have pictures! Except for the chargers in a stack in the storage of the venue 🤦‍♀️😅lol. I asked my caterer for pictures just this weekend but haven’t heard back yet. I agree, it will depend how it all looks together. Ugh I’m so not a person that can visualize things without actually seeing it! Lol

Thanks Candace! I appreciate you guys taking the time to give me feedback! My concern was that people would instantly be like “don’t do that, so tacky” 😅 so once I see what it looks like together I’ll feel more confident doing it if I think it looks nice. I shouldn’t care what other people think, but totally do 😄🤷🏼‍♀️

Here’s a picture from my caterer of a customers wedding set up! She used chargers with the plastic! This is also what mine will look like too! I think it look pretty 🤷🏻‍♀️

I chose to go with metal silverware because the feeling of holding plastic is so different and it bothers me. If that doesn't bother you then it should be fine to use the plastic. It looks quite good in person, from my experience.
