Chargers/Plates Advice !

Joss S., on December 3, 2016 at 1:22 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

I need a little bit of help! I am stuck deciding on how the tables should be set up or the wedding. We're thinking of going with navy blue table covers or maybe white not sure yet, but we're stuck figuring out if using a charger(plate) would look ridiculous alone? Just a gold charger and a white napkin on top?

I think it would be fine with or without the covers.

Odd question, but what are your attendants wearing?

If they are wearing navy then go with the white (or another color) for the table cloths. If they are wearing the same colors as the tablecloths than they'll blend in and make for some crazy photos!

As for the charger plate and napkin...I'm not very up and up on the dos and donts for that, so no advice there.

Thanks! My FH will be wearing navy. So we went with navy for some decorations. And I meant the charger plate as alone with no other plates? As the main serving plate. I know chargers are usually decorative only but I feel the whole 3 plates per person is too much. We are expecting about 200-250 people.

Most chargers are not "food safe"

Chargers are not for food. You don't have to have them but it would be weird as hell to eat off of one.

Chargers are decorative. Most are not even dishwasher safe d/t heat. If you were to put hot food on it it is very likely it would melt or cause the paint to pucker and who wants to have paint chips in their food?

It is ok to have the charger and a napkin on the table but your buffet needs to have actual dinner plates or your wait staff needs to deliver actual plated meals on dinner plates.

I'd just do a nice napkin fold at each place. Chargers are not for food.
