I got invited to a bachelorette for a friend of mine and the host is requesting $30/person to help with costs!!! Planning my wedding and honeymoon I simply can’t afford that PLUS a wedding gift. I don’t think the bride knows (as she is unaware of the other details) but I have no idea how to decline...

When I've attended bach parties I've helped towards the cost of the party bus or limo since they're stupid expensive and it makes sense to spread that cost to 10-20 people instead of the bridal party which I'm sure is smaller. I wonder if you could ask to meet up at a bar, say you can't stay out late so a party bus isn't good for you. Buy your friend a drink, have a drink yourself and then say goodnight? Otherwise, decline.

Is the party local to where you live? Why not just meet up with them for a drink or two and then go home! Have your FS drive you and then you don't even have to worry about drinking too much.

I've been to a few bachelorette parties, and everyone had to pay their portion. I haven't really heard of that not being the case anymore. I paid $150 for a night in a hotel/dinner/pool cabana the next day. I think the MOH put in more than her equal share, but I always expected to have to pay.
