Cheap but beautiful

Ashley, on April 25, 2019 at 9:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
Im not normally the type that likes to be noticed. Partly because it wasnt the good type. I have always been an outcast. But i love extravagant things. Due to the lack of funds, i can either plan a small wedding now or wait 10 years to have the wedding of my dreams... So i settled with a small wedding now and a renewal in 10 years. My issue is how to make a simple wedding unforgettable

I’m having a small wedding, less than 70 people pretty all just family. Just do whatever makes it “you”, a few examples my FH loves Star Wars so I’m having a string quartet version of the theme song played when he walks down, we met because of Elvis Presley so we’re adding touches of Elvis. Faith is also very important to both of us so we’re taking communion together & having a foot washing ceremony while my brother & best friend sing a worship song. Unforgettable doesn’t always mean more $$$!

Congratulations on your engagement Ashley!! I’m so happy that you have joined the WeddingWire community!

As Masonbride put it, ‘unforgettable doesn’t always mean more $$$’!!! Think about what makes you and your SO really happy. What makes you individual? This will make your wedding really personal to you and will result in some really great and creative decor!

Once you have decided what type of style/theme you would like to incorporate, look on Pinterest! It’s a DIY decor dream! There are so many great ways to incorporate a theme that you may not have thought about yet.

I’d love it if you come back to let us know what theme you would like to use, I’d love to help!!

Same here! We decided to do a micro wedding - immediate family only, I'm talking moms, dads, brothers, and gram - thats it. We're doing a simple ceremony in the backyard since we have lots of natural beauty from our gardens - but you could do something at a park or beach just the same. And then, we're going to a nearby Inn/Restaurant that is an old summer estate mansion. There, we will be hosting a cocktail hour and a full 4 course plated dinner. We don't do much in the way of partying/dancing/lots of people - were both very introverted. But what we DO love is good food and drink, so that's what we focused on! Decide what is at the top of YOUR priority list and focus on that to make it an unforgettable night!

Many ways to make the typical wedding items more affordable while making sure they are still memorable!

Biggest tip: Sam's Club sells bulk flowers and wedding-kits. The bulk flowers are an extremely affordable way to still have beautiful florals.

They also make 2 and 3-tier cakes. The 3-tier is only $79.99 and feeds like 65 people. They are very nicely done.

SHOP SECOND-HAND. I am having brass candlesticks on all my tables instead of floral centerpieces to cut costs. I've bought all the brass candlesticks at thrift stores. As well as votives. I have also used Facebook Marketplace A LOT buying wedding lots from local brides who have already tied the knot. I still get my dream-pinterest-tables for a fraction of the cost.

Design your own signage. You can download a template from Etsy if you aren't comfortable designing (They run $5-10) and then you can change the wording for all your signs. If you have a decent printer and are putting them in frames with glass, literally no one will be able to tell they aren't professionally designed/printed. This will make it unforgettable because it was all your own hard work that went into it!

Come up with ways to honor the loved ones closest to you guys, and it will be memorable for them too. Making them feel special on your day will ensure they, too, talk about it for years to come!

No of course it doesnt but i dont want just myself and my SO to remember... I want every guest to recall an amazing wedding and remember it for years to come. Our dream wedding would have been medieval/the legend of zelda themed ((and i had so many fun ideas!)) but in the end it would still be pricy so we are going with a color themed wedding with no more then 200 hundred ((he has a huge family)) using probably his church and youth pastor. We plan to get finger foods in bulk at sams club. My mom has an old chocolate fountain. Going to still try a candy bar ((instead of alcohol after all dont want kids to be around it)) most of my family/friends is poor so i may end up having to purchase the bridesmaid dresses if they dont have the right color or dress ((they are all tomboys but agreed to dress up for me)) i also want to make sure evryone can feel included things just add up and i only have 2000 to work with
