Cheap Flush Mount Albums?

Manisha, on February 1, 2013 at 1:50 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

QUESTION for my next project: Does anyone know where I can design and print my own FLUSH MOUNT ALBUM at a reasonable price?

Yes, time to finally design my wedding album. Smiley smile Let me know if you know of any websites that'll let you design it yourself and not cost a fortune! I'd like a 12x12 or 11x15ish

Thank you!

Not sure if they are flush mount, but I created albums for our parents using MyPublisher -- they offer lay flat pages, and I think their deluxe size is 11 by 15. They CONSTANTLY have deals, so I got our two during a BOGO, so two with slipcases were just under $250. The day after I bought them, they had a slightly better sale, too, so I could have saved a bit more.

And welcome to WW! I hope you'll update your avatar (the rings) to ANY unique picture we can more easily remember to help you in the future! This post tells you how to do that and more: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/welcome-to-the-weddingwire-forums-please-read-if-you-are-new/b433c40c1a62b96a.html

Shutterfly recently added flush mounts to their offerings. I havent looked into yet but i have gotten things from them about it.

Somerset Albums, Black River Imaging, and Bay Photo are companies that sell flush mount albums directly to consumers.

To my knowledge mypublisher and shutterfly do not offer flush mount, only lay-flat photobooks which aren't the same. While a noticeable difference in quality might be a good alternative for those on a budget.

@Carrie, what is a flush mount vs lay flat photobooks?

@Reenski - thanks! I updated my avatar Smiley smile I actually recently got a livingsocial for myPublisher and am tempted to use that for my wedding album because I got one for the 11x15. But it is a lay-flat pages option. I really would like to find a reasonable option for flush mount albums. Shutterfly has lay-flat too.

The difference between the two is that lay-flat pages mean they are of heavier weight and usually down the middle they are already creased, so when you turn the page, they lay flat instead of the classic arch. Flush mount albums actually have pages that are much thicker, almost like cardboard thickness, but with high quality photo paper mounted on it. It's more of a long-term, won't tear, smear, etc and it looks more professional. I figured the only time in my life I'd want to get one of those is for my wedding album! @Carrie did I explain it right?

@ Carrie, you are correct, Shutterfly offers lay-flat. But they look exactly like pictures of flush-mount so I dont know the difference. They use the thick paper and it looks nice! But its pricey, although it is probably still cheaper than most other sites. Below is a picture of the shutterfly book.

@Manisha, the parents albums came out really well. They aren't super thick pages, but the pictures look great, sharp, colorful (well, except for the black and white ones, LOL), so definitely take advatage of your LivingSocial deal. If not your wedding album, perhaps a honeymoon album? Then you could test the quality and go from there for your wedding album.

I think I've seen pictures of what ya'll mean with the flush mount -- I'm good with normal photobooks, but that's just me. Thank you for the explanation, though!
