Cheap options for table clothes/ tableware

Kip, on October 13, 2017 at 3:02 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 17

I have most of our wedding planned already except no idea what to do about tableware and table clothes. Are plastic plates too cheap? Plastic utensils? Ideas welcome!!! !

Your caterer may have options for disposable cutlery and napkins. Have you asked if they can provide and what their options are?

That is where we got our table linens. Very cheaply priced but good quality. It was way cheaper then renting them. Use the clear plastic plates. No one cares what there food comes on as long as its good lol. And if they do hey its free so suck it up lol.

Yep, linens and tableware are typically included with catering. Unless you want something specific that they don't offer (i.e. a specific color) you wouldn't have much of a need to find your own tablecloths or utensils.

Kip, hopefully these things will be included with your catering. Be sure to ask your venue for referrals.

I worked in catering for a long time most caterers will include plastic ware. And I never heard anyone complain most people were just excited to be there and ready to eat. @Nonna some people you can never please no matter what you do.

I ordered from tablecloths and lace runners from tableclothsfactory.com And so far so good. They shipped promptly, quality was good, and they're relatively inexpensive.

I think it depends on the level of formality of your wedding. Plastic plates and cutlery may be suitable for a casual backyard wedding or BBQ, but if you are expecting your guests to dress up, they deserve the courtesy of real plates and cutlery in return.

They were not included with my catering. I'm getting the 9" Member's Mark plastic plates through Jet for dinner. Only thing is sometimes some of them come damaged because they don't pack them that well, so you might have to complain, but they will provide a replacement if you send them pictures. They were the cheapest clear plastic I found - Around 25 cents a plate.

I got tablecloths from BalsaCircle.com. They have slightly better reviews than the other cheap tablecloth websites out there, and the quality is okay, but they have to be washed and dried when you get them because they feel weird - probably because they've been sitting in a warehouse.

Edit: I do second Muriel about the formality of your reception. Ours is an inside sit-down dinner, but we're having a Southern comfort food buffet, so using plastic would be acceptable for us. If you want a steak and salmon type of dinner, you should probably have china.

My dad has suggested he wants to take care of our dinner menu instead of a caterer (he is a chef) so I will need to find linens and plates. I am fine with plastic if they hold up and look nice. I will check out these suggestions. Thank you

Our linens came with our venue, but we don't have catering and opted for plastic plates. I don't need 100 porcelain plates OR the mess of 100 porcelain plates. I didn't want paper so plastic was the way to go for us.

We're having a BBQ food truck for dinner. I could have asked them to include the plates, but my daughter wanted something specific. So:

Cloth tablecloths and burlap/lace runners from www.efavormart.com

Wood-look plates (from palm leaves), heavy-duty plastic flatware, and clear plastic tumblers from www.webstaurant.com

Linen-like kraft paper dinner napkins from Amazon

    Personalized cocktail napkins from www.foryourparty.com

75 yards of muslin for draping from www.onlinefabric.com (We got samples first for $2 each)

    Hope this helps.
