Cheap Tree Slices? Maybe "secondhand?"

Keren, on May 21, 2017 at 9:02 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 18

Ugh! Why is everything so expensive? D: I am in need of about 16 tree/wood slices at least 6-7" wide (preferably much bigger! I was really hoping more for 12" but am discouraged by my budget). We are on a VERY tight budget. Does anyone know where I could find them for less than $5 each? Or as an alternative, would anyone who's using them slightly before September 2018 be interested in making some money off of them and letting me repurpose them for my wedding? I'd pay for shipping and would greatly appreciate it. Smiley smile

I was able to get most of my décor from a local FB wedding resale site. For items like this...I'm totally OK using 2nd hand & depending how they hold up, I can resell afterwards.

I would contact arborists where you live. Ask them if they will be doing any tree pruning where you could have the wood. One of the guys is usually willing to slice up the branches on their break or after work, for either a few dollars or a case of beer. I have also placed ads on Craigslist.

Have you checked your local Craigslist site?

This person has some for sale for $5 each or 17 for $65

Be careful with arborists though! Yes, they may have wood slices but those slices are likely not cured and will warp if not cured properly.

If you are on a tight budget I encourage you to skip extras like "tree slices".

Focus on good food, booze and a great DJ or band.

Check sales at Micheal's. My DOC recommended there as well as AC Moore.

We cut all of our own logs/slices for what we're using them for, all for free! Any family who would be willing to let you cut down a tree for them?

Have you thought about getting a chain saw and some logs and cutting your own? Also check craigslist. I have found tons of things for my wedding from previous brides

Wood slices don't need to be cured if you are using them in the reasonably near future.
