Katie, on February 5, 2013 at 8:00 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 27

Ok so Im gonna DIY my centerpieces, really simple clear vases, stones at the bottom, filled with water and a floating candle on top. So where to get these vases for CHEAP! I found some on Amazon like $70 for 12... which is ok I guess, but I need you thrifty ladies help! Thanks!

I've been hitting Goodwill. I don't mind if they aren't identical, but I have found multiples of the same. Glass isn't cheap online and its $$$$ to ship.

A place like Tuesday Morning might have some too. .

    DONT DO IT! Smiley laugh

I JUST bought 8 6in hurricane style vases from walmart for $2.97 EACH and will be purchasing more when i hit up another location. they are shatter resistant and pretty for such a cheap vase. Check there first

Purchasing online might save money on some specialty items but 9 times out of 10, shipping is what makes the bill jump and glass is one of those sure fire items that will do it.

Do you have a hobby lobby near you? They have a wide variety of plain hurricanes and vases! Their stuff goes on sale every other week basically for 50% off.. We bought 8 inch hurricanes for $4 each.. they had a lot of different sizes and shapes though, that may be cheaper! Smiley smile

    Good luck!

I didn't think about the shipping. Looks like I'll be hitting Dollar Tree and Good Will. I also don't mind if they don't exactly match, but I'd like them to be the same height, at least. And clear glass, nothing colored.

    Thanks!

I used hobby lobby. If there is one near you they have 40% off coupons on their website for in-store purchases.

I'm doing Goodwill and other local thrift shops as well - I specifically didn't want them to be the same! I seriously think my most expensive vase was maybe $2 and I got one from a garage sale for 75cents. Def check them out

Goodwill, thrift stores, dollar tree--- or if you want more selection try Saveoncrafts.com. They have fairly good prices on some things. The more expensive items show up first, but if you do a bit of looking you may find exactly what your looking for Smiley smile

I got these large vases (over 13" tall) at Tuesday Morning on clearance for $4.50/each. Had to go to a few stores to get 14, but we found them...

You could check craig's list, too. Lots of brides are selling their stuff after the wedding's over.

The dollar store would be an awesome place to start! I know that I have gone through there before looking for random decorations and they have a lot of vases

You can order a large amount by going to www.dollartree.com and you can either have it delivered to a store (if you have some around) or to your home. If you have it delivered to a store and something breaks, reviews on items have said that you can just switch it out in the store.

DT for their cylinder type of vase, can't go wrong and they are rugged for holding stones, water and floating candle...see pic of some I did for friend....adding a ribbon trim with crystals/bling adds to the touch, oh by the way, plan on using double the amount of stones if you are using them, it gives a nicer effect use the smaller stones and a chopstick or such, to fill the small voids, Good Luck.x

Check out Goodwill! My local Goodwill has a bajillion vases similar to whta Glenda posted for $1-3 each.

But unlike Glenda's, they are not 13", probably only 8-10
