Cheap venue or more expensive

Amanda, on March 14, 2018 at 6:09 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 16
I'm in a dilemma. I can get a very cheap venue for a ceremony and reception but will take lots of decorating to make it what I want. Then I still have to find catering and everything else. Or I can pay more to have a venue that has almost everything. Help! What would you do?

Does the more expensive venue have catering? What does it include?

    I'm all for all inclusive.

Go with the expensive venue, it has all you need. The cheaper venue may end up costing more by bringing in every vendor.

We went cheap. But it's because my sister is catering so that ends up being at cost. If planning is fun to you and you like spreadsheets, then the cheaper venue could be ok. But if any of that stresses you out and you can afford it (or WANT to afford it) I say go for the inclusive option.

It will be much less stressful to do the all inclusive location. I guess it depends on how much leg work you want to do, and sometimes all the extras add up to be more than the inclusive locations anyways!

This was one area that FH was addiment about....he did not want to fuss with separate vendors, set-up/clean-up crews. Etc. He wanted everything in one place. Luckily our first pick, fit the bill, and we booked it early! It is nice to have one contact, our venue's event planner and she is wonderful! Our only other vendors are flowers, portaJohns for our outdoor picniic (dinner will be indoors), and the cake that my sister is making! I'm having fun with some decor and centerpieces....but I glad to not have to coordinate evetything!

Both my daughters are doing mostly all inclusive and it's been so much easier and I believe less expensive overall.

Does the all-inclusive venue need decorations?

If you can get both venues to hold your date for a week, do some research on how much it will cost to do the wedding at both and go with what makes more sense.

I paid more for a venue that was mostly all-inclusive (ceremony, DJ, food, etc). We’re not doing much in terms of decor to save money, and because the venue itself is really pretty in itself. Almost all the decor is from the dollar tree or amazon lol.

Depends on what your vision is for your wedding. We found a nice golf course that's run by the county parks and rec and we can use our own vendors. Total cost will be somewhere between 7 and 8 grand for 140 people (not including our attire but we also aren't doing a bridal party). Most quotes I got around me for other venues started at that much just for the facility not including food or alcohol or anything.

Do the math for both. If you choose the less expensive venue don't overthink decorating. Simple can be better.

Food is always one of the things guests remember most, especially if it's bad. Have you tasted the all inclusive venue's food? If it was good, I'd go all inclusive. These type of venues are so much easier to plan with.

I would do the math for both. Comparison shop for vendors for the cheaper venue and compare it to the cost of the venue with almost everything and see which is better. For us a venue that wasn't inclusive was better for us and cheaper price wise. I found an event planning company that will be providing our catering, DOC, Baker, bartender, servers and breakdown and set up.

I'm in the exact same spot, and I have to make a decision like NOW. The cheaper venue is smaller, but on a lake and very pretty. Comes with nothing. The other is all-inclusive, their own caterer, etc. and has a nice patio for the ceremony and another for the cocktail hour. I think I know what I need to do, I just need to pull the trigger!

I'd probably go with the inclusive venue. The less expensive one could easily become more then the inclusive by the time your done decorating, caterer, alcohol, cost of the venue, plus if you need chairs, tables or linens. I don't know if you have to decorate, take down & set up. That's enough stress for me & wouldn't want to take it on.

It is your preference. I am getting married 1100 miles from where I live. I determined I wanted to deal with as few vendors as possible and didn't want the added stress about having to decorate a venue as well.
