I’m only having 25 guests. The PP cost is pretty freaking high, and I definitely could have gone cheaper for food to have more people, but that is how I kept it a super luxurious day for that guest number.
Omg I discovered this on Netflix today. I watched the first two episodes already. Makes me feel a lot better about my budget. Lurking on these forums sometimes can be so discouraging. But I def understand.
I think the show definitely puts things into perspective on how bad hiring your loved ones and self catering can be. Fh and I are doing a budget wedding as well and I'm feeling so confident knowing we have professionals in our budget to help make the day happen

This sounds like a fantastic show! I have not heard of it!! I am having a smaller guest count, around 75 people. I picked a venue that was pretty much all inclusive, and have set a pretty frugal budget for my dress. My wedding wont be "cheap" but I don't think I will regret the amount that I end up spending. Also, we decided to wait 2 years so that we could save up and just pay for everything outright instead of charging things and having to pay them off.
I have no doubt your wedding will be beautiful and perfect for you!
@L+B we are at a 75 guest list as well! I can't say the show helped me come up with ideas to save money but definitely reinforced the big no's

It just sounds entertaining is all lol! Are you planning and outdoor or indoor wedding? I am having an outdoor ceremony/reception space and I think another area that I will be saving in is the decor. The natural beauty of the site kind of does all that work!
Have you thought about plated Vs. buffet? With a smaller guest list, that could be another option that allows you to save money.
A venue which we rented for the entire weekend and had multiple events at with unlimited time and noise restrictions both saved the budget and made our wedding weekend. Never thought we would find it but we did.

That sounds lovely! We are also doing buffet. It sounds like you are making some thoughtful choices when it comes to saving money
Totally checking this out tonight. I watched an episode of Extreme couponing where they had someone get married for next to nothing and it was a horrific rude poorly hosted mess.
How have I not seen this?? Definitely putting it on my watch list.
We are keeping the guest list under 75 and using a mostly inclusive venue with a decent PP price. We are going with a consumption beer/wine/soda bar and keeping flowers to a minimum.
FH and I were big about our wedding/reception being on the beach, and having the honeymoon of a lifetime (Bora Bora!), so we had to pick and choose where to spend and splurge. Here's where we cut costs:
small guest list (~50), some family and close friends
event is on Thursday
open bar with beer/wine only ( this is not an issue since none of our guests are mixed-drink drinkers)
no programs
maybe no favors (undecided at this time, have read a few article recently that are suggesting this is really unnecessary)
We are handling most of the décor ourselves
Just keeping it simple! Some of this may be easier for us than other weddings as this is a second wedding for both of us.
Where we splurged:
Venue! beautiful resort on the beach with AMAZING yummy foods,
I'll be adding it to my watch list. We just made the decision to push back our original desired date in order to be able to save more for a better honeymoon. We're already wanting something small enough that it should be easily doable without being tacky and cheap. Guest list around 50 people is the biggest thing.
