Chiavari Chairs, are they worth it?

SBNG, on January 25, 2010 at 10:17 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 28

I am planning a wedding for August at this great location. My budget is not very big, but we do have enough money for Chiavari Chairs. They are about $9 each for about 75 people, but close to $700, are they worth it? Are they comfortable? What do you all think?

I've never sat in them but I hear they are gorgeous. I think if you have it in your budget and you really want them, then go for it! If you are concerned about the cost you could also try finding a similar chair that is less expensive.

I LOVE Chiavari chairs. I have sat in them before, and they are pretty comfy. I plan on having them at my wedding. Luckily the banquet mgr. added them in @ no cost to FH amd me. Whew!!

I love them too! But no, it's not worth it. Nobody notices chairs (unless they're like, covered in mud or falling apart or something) and that's $700 you can spend on something else!

Only you can determine if it's "worth" it. it depends on the look you want and how bad you want it. you could probably get chair covers/sashes for cheaper but it's a completely different look/feel.

I used them at my wedding and they were very comfortable. They went perfectly with our decor/colors. Are you planning on doing chair covers if you don't get chiavari chairs? If so, the cost isn't much different.

I san only WISH I was able to have those chairs! They're like $15 to rent, per chair here in Canada, and then I'd have to pay frieght on top of that because the closest place that has them is 6 hours away!

I agree - they're beautiful chairs, but to me they wouldn't be worth it unless I had an endless budget. I can think of a lot of things I'd rather have (and things I think my guests would notice more) for $700. But everyone's priorities are different, so if you want them then they're worth it for YOU and that's all that matters!

Well the chairs at my venue and nicely maintained and I was planning on buy my sashes for cheap by bulk. I can get them for $0.99 each. I think I would rather save that money for the honeymoon instead. Thanks Smiley smile

Love, love, love chiavari chairs! But $9/chair sounds a bit much for them....I would suggest buying chair covers or sashes, they're way cheaper than $9/chair.

$9 is a little steep, but I have an idea. People try to sell them on craigslist all the time. Maybe contact the sellers and offer to rent them for ($4-5?) a piece and that way they could make money while they're waiting for them to sell.

Chiavari chairs are really beautiful. I have no personal experience with them myself but my event coordinator at my venue said when they looked into getting new chairs for their venue they looked into chiavari chairs and she said the seat itself seemed really small and slightly narrow. So they went with other chairs.

I agree with some of the other ladies on here, I'd spend the money somewhere else.

IMO i think that price is pretty high & for chairs, not worth it. if you have the money and don't need it else where and love them..then go for it. my FH & I decided that 5.75 per chiavari chair or 1.20 a regular white chair is a huge difference and not worth the extra cash on the fancy chairs!

They are beautiful to the eye but depending on who is sitting in them, I don't think they are terribly comfortable compared to an upholstered padded seat. My hotel seats were just replaced in the past few years so thank God I don't have that expense.

I love the chairs, we looked at them but need about 120, we settled for the White Garden chairs with cushions, which are about 5-6 bucks chaper, and just as sturdy and comfy....but I think I would have got them if I only needed 75 becuase they are so pretty!

I love the chairs but personally, I would not pay extra for them. I would use the $ somewhere else, honeymoon perhaps, but if you have the $ and it's what you want, girl, do it!

$9 dollars each? I'm renting my chivari chairs from Party Rental ltd and the wood ones are $6 each and the resin ones are $4 each. You should try and negotiate that price down but yes I TOTALLY think it's worth it!! Sooo much more elegant.

Something to consider is what do the chairs in the reception venue look like? If they take away from the linens and flowers, or table centerpieces, you have invested in, then you should consider renting the chivalry chairs or chair covers. Remember that those chairs are in your pictures forever.

We had a bride who had invested $$$ in gorgeous linens and $$$$ in flowers. She opted to use the Country Club chairs. Some chairs were burgundy, others were turquoise tapestry. They totally ruined the kiwi color of her linens and the pink of her flowers. We couldn't even use any of her reception pictures on our website, they looked so bad.

I must say these prices are high for renting chivalry chairs. Here they are $5, including chair pads.
