CHIAVARI CHAIRS - worth it, or a complete waste of money?!

Amanda, on October 21, 2015 at 4:30 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 42

I am so in love with gold chiavari chairs, but they are outrageously expensive to rent. Has anyone bit the bullet, paid for them and regretted it? Or wished they would have upgraded?

Thoughts?!

I have thought about this but for me it will be $7 a chair which I really can't get behind. The damn chair probably costs $10 to make lol

Ugh...I know. Our venue wants to charge us $10...no way that's happening.

Well, the chairs actually sell for loads more than that, and they have to be delivered, set up, picked up, stored and maintained.

That being said, I don't think I'd spend the money.

I have been to a wedding where they rented the chiavari chairs and while they are beautiful they are uncomfortable.

We didn't want them. The amount of money that we would have spent on them is the same I spent on my round-trip flight for my HM. That being said, we didn't have our photographer cover the reception, so maybe the chairs make more of a difference to couples whose reception will be professionally photographed. They definitely are quite pretty Smiley smile

I've sat on both, and honestly the chiavari chairs are less comfortable, but I wouldn't say they are uncomfortable. I don't spend a lot of time sitting at my table at a wedding anyway. Most of your guests will not notice what they chairs look like. That said, we are leaning towards upgrading to them. Our venue's chairs are very ugly, and they include the cost of chair cover rental in the per head price. We HATE chair covers and how they make our reception room look. If we upgrade to chiavari chairs we will only pay the difference between the cover and the chiavari. We won't get a credit for not using chair covers if we wanted to just use the ugly chairs. Because it's not as high of a cost and it will make the room look better overall it's easier to stomach. If we need to cut costs down the line the upgraded rentals will be on the chopping block but for now we can swing it.

Now if we had to pay the full cost of the chair I don't know if I would feel the same way!

I've been going back and forth on this issue as well, I'm in love with the ghost chairs and hate the chairs my venue provides last month I was over the thought of getting the chairs and realized they really dont matter. However this month I'm back to wanting them again.

I've been quoted 10$ per chair however I found a vendor willing to give me a vendor rate of $4 per chair still split on if it's worth it, it does make for very nice decor

I love them and rented them for our wedding. I paid 6.49 a chair plus tax, protection plan, and delivery. To me it as totally worth it. I'm someone who notices the chairs and I really think they fit in much better with the decor.

Nobody (and I mean NOBODY) is going to care or remember what color or style chairs they sat in. Save your $$.

What do your venue's standard chairs look like? Are they hideous? Or do you not have chairs at all, so have to rent either way? If so, what's the price difference between chiavari vs. a different style of chair?

A waste. They're SO uncomfortable to sit on and they always look cheap and plasticky. I don't get the obsession with them.

My venues chairs are hideous- muted red and wood. They're also putting new carpet in that's black and tan-ish and really makes the hideous chairs pop. I hate the chairs covers personally! It's an upgrade of about $2-$3 per chair. The chair covers come with our package.

If you hate it that much, do your research on every possible vendor and negotiate pricing. I'd email a couple in close price range and mention you're willing to go with them if they come down x,y,z amount.

But your venue comes with chair covers and you don't like them? It may be cheaper to find chair covers you like than it is to rent out chairs.

I passed on a venue because of their chairs...they were SO ugly and I didn't want to have to rent chivari from an outside vendor. After that, I only researched venues that provided chivari standard with no upcharge. $7 per chair will definitely add up, but if you have a vision and can swing it, you may be glad you did down the road when you're looking at your pro pics.

I love the way chivari chairs look! What chairs are included right now? If you have no chairs I would definitely say go with the chivari chairs. Smiley smile

Unless the chairs that are included with your venue are hideous, I'd say save your money. Another option is renting much cheaper wooden folding chairs. I think they look just fine in photos.

I wanted chivari chairs and was ready to pay $8 per chair until I actually sat on one while viewing my venue. They were sooo uncomfortable. The chairs that come with the venue are navy blue cloth so I'm just going with them.

Ours were included in the cost of venue. I would not otherwise pay to upgrade the chairs. It's not something anyone is going to notice. And as for comfort...not many people stay at their tables for very long. They will be mingling and socializing. Seriously, save the money unless the standard chairs are truly hideous. Good luck.
