CHIAVARI CHAIRS - worth it, or a complete waste of money?!

I am so in love with gold chiavari chairs, but they are outrageously expensive to rent. Has anyone bit the bullet, paid for them and regretted it? Or wished they would have upgraded? Thoughts?!

I bit the bullet and rented silver chiavari chairs with ivory cushions for $4 a chair x 130 chairs. I didn't think they were that uncomfortable. The chair colors complemented our purple and grey wedding and the ivory linens the hotel provided. It looked really pretty in the reception space. The default chairs would have been ugly brown conference chairs. Even our photographer thought the chairs were ugly as they were in our bridal getting ready room. I felt guilty splurging on the chairs but after seeing our reception set up, I thought it was worth it.

I am having an outdoor, ocean front wedding and I had to rent chairs anyway, so I splurged and spent the money on the gold chiavari chairs. So, if you can swing it, do it.

I really want the gold chiavari chairs as well, but ours are $6 a chair, so I'm still undecided.

Most people say skip the rentals but I hated looking at photos of our venue with the plastic chairs. So we paid for the upgrade to wood chairs that were half the price of these. It really depends on your overall ambiance as well as budget.

Our venue includes 200 gold chiavari chairs, so if our RSVPs are over that we will just have to rent the extras. I don't think I would have paid to rent all of them if they weren't included.

Complete waste of money, IMO. Never have I ever said at a wedding, "Wow! These chairs are lovely/ugly!" or "Wow, this is so (un) comfortable!" save your money for something else, like more cake. Smiley sexy

If your venue chairs are really ugly, they can distract from the beautiful tablescape you created. We're doing garden chairs because they're half the cost to rent, and will make the room look like a wedding not a summer camp. Garden chairs usually come in white, black, light wood and fruitwood, but I've seen bright colors too.

I'm not a picky person at all, but when I started looking at venues the chairs were the main thing that stood out to me when looking at pictures. I hate the way regular banquet hall chairs look at weddings. And I hateeee chair covers. I was so surprised at myself for thinking this way lol, but chairs matter to me. Luckily my venue has pretty ceremony chairs. We were able to upgrade to chiavari chairs for the reception for a minimal price considering we will have about 250 guests.

We're renting chiavari chairs. I dislike the look of chair covers. If you can afford them, go for it.

I'd love to have chiavari chairs with cushions, but I can't swing the $8 per chair. I'm going with white garden chairs instead.

I have the opposite problem. Gold chiavari chairs are included, but my FH thinks they're hideous eyesores and wants to either cover them or rent other chairs. It's an extra $900 though. Smiley sad

I want them but spending like $800 for them just doesn't sit well with me. That is $800 I could spend on my honeymoon. I'm going to do white chair covers instead perhaps with a gold ribbon but maybe not even with a ribbon. My cocktail hour is from 7-8pm so by 8 it will be dark and no one will even really notice the chairs.

Mine are 6 dollars a chair for a little more than 100 people. It was a bitter pill to swallow. But it all depends on what look you like. For me..for some reason...the chairs were important. To each their own though Smiley smile

As a wedding guest, I honestly could not tell you if I have ever seen chiavari chairs used at a wedding. I only know what they are now because of WW. My point: you will be the only one who notices them, so don't waste the money. Oh, and I sat on one recently at a fancy restaurant...most uncomfortable chair ever.

I'm one of those weird people who DO notice the chairs. Definitely upgrade if you can!

If they don't come with your venue, don't waste your money unless its in your budget of course.

One of the reasons we chose our venue is because I wanted those gold chivalry chairs too and that is what they have available

It was important for me to find a venue that includes them. I didn't want to rent. In my area they go for anywhere between $10-$12 a chair plus delivery/setup fee. With that being said can you do the garden wood chairs. I think those can look really nice. I think chivari are the most formal. I'm not a fan of chair covers but sometimes they can look really nice. Is that an option?

I literally cannot remember a single thing about the chairs at the weddings I've been to. Our venue includes white chair covers, so that's what we're going with.
