Chiavari chairs - worth it? Pros/cons?

Lauren, on August 28, 2018 at 10:19 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

So our reception isn't traditional, in that we only will have about 35 guests so we're having a 3 course dinner in the private dining room of the restaurant in the hotel where we're having the ceremony & cocktail hour. After the dinner guests can move into the bar area and continue to mingle and maybe dance a little(we're hiring a guitarist).

I'm thinking of renting gold chiavari chairs to replace the ones in the private room. One company is 5.50 per chair and while we could swing it since we have a low guest count, is it worth it? I do like the look of them and I think it would take the space up a notch, but just wanted others opinions/thoughts if they had them or chose not to and why.

The tables will be covered w/white tablecloths, candles and centerpieces will be flowers leftover from the ceremony(ivory/greenery) and we have accents of gold throughout(invitations, menu cards, etc.). Also for a better visual, the lights will be dimmed so it's more of a romantic feel.

Pics below of the room just as is, and then of a bridal shower that took place there.

The chiavari chairs definitely add to the wedding look. I absolutely love them. My venue offers them for $3/per chair so for me it's totally worth it. If you can swing it without it hurting your budget I'd say go for it. Also I'm not sure what your colors are but I factored that into the chair selection.

They definitely add to the look but I'm not sure they're worth the $5.50 a piece. I have a few companies around me who do them for about $3 each. Overall I think the dark wood chairs add a lot to the room as well and make it feel really homey. If you have the budget then I say go for it but no one will really remember the chairs at the end of the day.

I'd go for it if you can afford them. I think it dresses up the space a bit and makes it feel a little more like a wedding reception.

If it's in your budget and you really like them, go for it. Our venue has them for a couple bucks each but it's not in our budget and we don't really care how it looks. I agree that it really makes it look more wedding-ish!

When I was picking my venue it was odd but the chairs actually meant a lot to me and was something I was picky about. Looking at your pictures though the chairs it comes with are nice and I think it will look great with the current ones, especially once you add the table cloths and flowers. The chiavari chairs do look nice though too but definitely not necessary since the one's that come with it are nice looking. The one's at our venue were the chairs that would be used at a work conference so it was definitely worth it to upgrade!
